Hi Barbara, when considering your idea here - is there a specific report you'd find the option to exclude rather than deselecting most useful?

Hi Ian, thanks for bringing our attention to this. We can see how having account codes displayed in their own column, rather than combined with the account name, could make reporting easier to read and work with.
At the moment, account codes and names are shown together when the option is enabled in reports, and can be split manually after export if needed for further analysis.
I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If there are particular reports or workflows where separate columns would be most useful, we'd love to hear more about them.

Was very, very surprised that Xero design didn't automatically include column heading data on multiple pages. Almost a disregard for report user's time and effort in reading report data.

I was given a link to read about the "Sales Tax on Imports", and it almost sounded like it would provide a solution to the problem ... almost.
The problem is that instead of recording the dollar amount of the tax due to a tax expense account, the amount of the tax should be debited to the GL account used for the item(s) purchased. GAAP accepts that the tax cost when purchasing an item is legitimately treated as part of the total acquisition cost of the item(s) and thus, there is no need to have a "sales tax expense" account that it treated separately from the expense category of the purchase. Having the item show up on the Sales Tax Report is good, but the GL treatment of the item is a weakness.

In many instances, users are presented with an option to include one or some items in a report. Also sometimes, the "some items" are more in quantity than the items to NOT include in the report, so the ability to "not include" would result in an easier and a quicker process for the user. I realize that you asked for a specific list or a name of a report that Barbara Fusco had in mind, but this isn't a choice for one report ... it is an improved way of making selections in ALL reports where the user has the option to choose which items to appear in the report. It is changing how you view the method of making those selections and making the method most effective and efficient for the users of your software!
