Hi everyone, we appreciate the continued trend in support through this idea, and feedback to my last update. We recognise how valuable it is to have clear visibility of your customer payment performance, so you can quickly review payment dates and days late across customers without needing to check each contact individually.
We want to share that we’re currently working on reports to give businesses better visibility of payment performance, with our initial focus on the supplier side through a new 'Supplier days to pay detail' report showing historical payment behaviour across suppliers.
Once that’s rolled out, we’ll begin work on additional reports for the Sales side with customer payment performance.
I’ll return to share as work on customer reporting is picked up and progresses. Thanks

Hi community, we understand there are differing needs in this idea for why you’d like a separate posting date alongside the invoice or bill date. Whether it’s for reporting, compliance, or just a more accurate view of when things happened.
While this has been carefully considered, we want to be transparent with everyone here, that this is not something we have plans for developing in the near term.
We know given the interest in this that this is not the update you’re hoping for, and please know that we’ll continue to track votes this idea receives for future consideration. We’ll keep you posted if things change down the line.

Have an additional date which is the driver for the bill/invoice/journal to be posted into the current period. This would enable invoices dated in prior months to the current period to have correct due dates calculated.

Hi Katrina, thanks for sharing your thoughts on lock dates. Currently, tasks like allocating credit notes or prepayments can be blocked if transactions fall before the lock date. A non-advisor user can still apply a credit note if:
- The credit note is dated before the lock date and the invoice or bill is after the lock date, or
- The invoice or bill is dated before the lock date and the credit note is after the lock date.
However, if both the credit note and the invoice or bill are dated before the lock date, a non-advisor can’t apply it. In this case, an adviser needs to either temporarily remove the lock or apply the credit note themselves.
Xero also provides both a Standard and an Adviser lock date, which lets advisers restrict staff while still completing necessary allocations and adjustments.
We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can…

I'm so very pleased to read that Xero are looking into this. I believe it would be a huge step forward for businesses to produce monthly financials.
Added 13/08/2026 - Having this function would enable proper monthly financials to be produced and no "workaround" with adjusting invoice dates. It would also help 3rd part integration with the likes of Approvalmax. If Xero is only meant for small businesses that don't need this functionality this should be made clearer
