Hi team, we totally get how bulk updating amounts on repeating invoices would help speed up the process and accuracy in amounts going out for regular customer sales.
Our product team is beginning to explore repeating invoices and the future of how we support these type of regular transactions. As part of this they're carefully considering popular ideas that have been raised by our community. We’ll come back to share further updates, once they’ve got a good handle on where this works stems.

Nigel — thank you, that genuinely means a lot coming from the first person to put it through a proper test. The £5 rounding exists because you asked for it, so the credit's shared. One question while I have you, since you know both worlds: what does your legacy system's recurring revenue reporting show you that Xero can't? You mentioned it's one of the reasons billing stays there — and since the tool already reads every repeating template, a report built from them (contracted revenue by customer, months ahead, that sort of thing) is very buildable. If you tell me what a useful version looks like, it goes on the list the same way the rounding did. Richard

Nigel — it's uplift-rose.vercel.app (it was in my earlier comment but easy to miss in a thread this long). Log in with your Xero account, choose the demo company, and you'll find the new options in the Rounding dropdown — "Round up (£5)" is the one you asked for. And thanks for the detail on the income-in-advance flow — a monthly SQL-to-spreadsheet-to-manual-journal routine is exactly the kind of thing worth talking about automating down the line. Richard

Nigel — thanks for putting it through its paces, and glad it held up. Your rounding idea is now live: alongside penny and £1, you can round to the nearest 50p, £5 or £10 — up, down or nearest — so "+3.6%, round up to the nearest £5" works exactly like your legacy system. Took your suggestion from comment to production in a day, which is rather the point of a pilot. If you get a chance to re-run your demo-company test with the new rounding I'd value a sanity check from someone who knows how it should behave. And when the time comes to look at moving off the legacy system, happy to talk through how the income-in-advance side would work. Richard

Nigel — great to hear from you, and your approach is spot on: a demo company is exactly how I built and tested this myself, and CSV-uploading a few of your recurring invoices into it will show you everything. It's live at uplift-rose.vercel.app — connect the demo company, pick the templates, set the change (e.g. +5% with rounding rules), and you get a full line-by-line preview before anything is written. Every original is kept, so any change can be undone with one click. Free while it goes through App Store certification. One heads-up: it works on sales repeating invoices only — Xero's API can't recreate supplier-bill templates, so that's a platform limitation rather than a choice. Your income-in-advance journals shouldn't be affected either way: the tool only changes template amounts, so your quarterly journal process carries on as now, just with the new values. Quick update for anyone watching this thread: the tool I mentioned two weeks ago is now built and live, working against real Xero organisations. Bulk price changes on repeating (sales) invoices — select templates, set a percentage or fixed change, see a full line-by-line preview before anything is written, then apply with field-by-field verification afterwards. Every original is snapshotted, so any change can be undone with one click. Previewing costs nothing.
Juliana — a 2,000-client CPI uplift is exactly what it's built for, and I'd love to run yours with you as a free early user. Kevin — your select all/none with VAT retained by default is in. Nigel — if you'd ever consider bringing recurring billing back into Xero, I'd value your eyes on it.

UK business owner here with the same problem — passing supplier and subscription price rises through a few hundred repeating invoices, by hand, every time.
I've spent the last fortnight testing what's actually possible against the API, and can confirm what Nick and Roberto have said below: there is no in-place update — the only programmatic route is recreate-then-delete, and it has to be done defensively (in my testing the API will even part-write a batch behind an error response if a tool isn't careful).
I'm building a tool for exactly this, aimed at full Xero App Store certification: connect your org, select templates or link them to product/service codes, set a percentage or fixed change with rounding rules, preview every change line by line before anything is touched, then apply with per-invoice verification — approved status, schedules, VAT treatment and reference placeholders all preserved (my test runs show these survive intact when done correctly).
Before finishing it I want to shape it around real use cases, not just mine. I'm looking for a small number of businesses to pilot it free while it goes through certification — especially anyone facing a CPI or VAT-driven repricing. Juliana — a 2,000-client CPI uplift is exactly the scale I've designed for and I'd love to test against your scenario. Kevin — your point 1 (product-linked updates with a select all/none list, retaining VAT) is on the build list.
If you'd use this, reply here with roughly how many repeating invoices you manage and how long a price change takes you today. I'll follow up in this thread.

Hi community, we appreciate your feedback here. We understand how valuable bulk actions would be for updating and processing repeating invoices, especially when you're managing changes at scale.
While this work isn’t currently roadmapped, we recognise this as a gap and it’s on our team’s radar as we look at the future of repeating invoices. If there’s any news or progress to share, we’ll be sure to update this idea.

For anyone still waiting on this: CSV import of repeating invoices into Xero now exists, and it's live. Upload or paste a spreadsheet (contact, reference, line items, frequency, dates), check the rows, and it creates the repeating templates in your Xero file — as drafts by default, so you can review them before anything goes out. Two caveats: it's sales repeating invoices only, and the contacts need to exist in Xero first (Xero won't let a repeating invoice create a contact; it matches on the exact name). It also does the bulk price updates several people here mention. It's an independent build, not Xero, and free while it goes through App Store certification. Tool: uplift-rose.vercel.app — changelog at uplift-rose.vercel.app/updates. One question for anyone who tries the import (Nigel, you included): did having to set the contacts up in Xero first cost you real time? A one-line reply here, or an email via the address on the site, is plenty — I won't turn this into a back-and-forth, and I'll only report back at real milestones. Richard
