An update for everyone else following: each imported template can now go on the branding theme you pick, or one per row from a column in your file, and the import guide covers moving repeating invoices across from Sage, QuickBooks and other systems. You can also try the price-change side without connecting your own Xero: the demo runs the real screens on an invented business with 32 templates. The Bulk import/Export of repeating invoices was requested in 2014 via the Xero product ideas portal. We started using Xero in 2024, but had to keep our SOP processing in a legacy 3rd party system due to the lack of an "import" to create repeat invoices. We also use our legacy software to update the prices on the repeat SOP templates. We recently found an add-on for Xero. The 3rd party developer has addressed both of these issues, and so we have now migrated our remaining SOP processes from the Legacy software to Xero. Very pleased with the solution. The solution is Ratelift.

A short update: the founding places have now closed to new organisations. Every organisation's first job is still free, with no card to enter, so you can connect, preview and run a small batch before deciding; after that it's a flat fee per job by size, shown before you confirm and refunded automatically if a run fails its check. An update since my 11 September post: the tool is now called Ratelift, and it lives at ratelift.app — the import has grown up since then: it reads Excel CSVs from Windows or Mac, asks how your dates are written and whether prices include VAT rather than guessing, shows every template with its schedule and due date in words before anything is created, creates drafts by default, and warns if a row matches a template you already have. Export still writes the same format, so you can move templates between Xero files. Sales repeating invoices only, an independent build (not Xero). Free during early access, and the first 10 organisations keep it free until 31 March 2027. Richard

Following up my 6 September post on import, since this thread asks for both halves: export now exists too. Uplift can download all your repeating invoice templates as a CSV in the same format its import reads — one row per line, with contacts, references, prices, percentage discounts, account, tax and item codes, schedules and end dates. So you can keep a backup, change templates in bulk in a spreadsheet, or move them into another Xero file and bring them back in as drafts. What doesn't carry across: attachments, tracking, branding themes and approve-for-sending settings, and the contacts, accounts and items need to exist in the new file first. If you're moving files, end the old templates before their next invoice date, or customers will be billed twice. Upload or paste a spreadsheet (contact, reference, line items, frequency, dates), check the rows, and it creates the repeating templates in your Xero file — as drafts by default, so you can review them before anything goes out. Two caveats: it's sales repeating invoices only, and the contacts need to exist in Xero first (Xero won't let a repeating invoice create a contact; it matches on the exact name). We have a large client base, who often would prefer to pay a monthly charge rather than annual and at the moment the only way to facilitate this is to offer it on an case by case basis or provide a direct debit through Go Cardless. Being able to bulk import recurring invoices is definitely a function we would like to see in the future so that we can offer it to more clients to provide them with an easier and more visable way of paying their invoices.

Bulk import/export option is something we do need, especially when it comes to annual pricing increasing. Individually updating repeating invoices as we grow has become the biggest challenge

Especially useful when Xero keeps changing the subscription pricing!!!! which we oncharge to clients via repeating invoices. Such a waste of time!

We have hundreds of recurring income donations and having to enter these all manually will take an awful lot of time.

I see this request is from 2022 was it ever resolved?

This would be especially helpful when doing price increases

I want to be able to export all repeating invoices so I can tally up the amount of recurring income I have and compare that with non recurring income

12 years since the idea was shared yet we are still waiting..

A major problem when wanting to transfer repeating invoices from one Xero instance to another.

CRITICAL - the facility to import pdf invoices into Xero instead of using a third party software. Is this possible?

Has this not been solved yet? I had this feature in 'Kashflow' before moving to Xero so surely can't be that had to download a csv of all the repeating invoices?!

This would save a lot of time and I can't comprehend how this hasn't been implemented before.

Please can you give us a csv export like the one in 'products and services'? So we can check repeating invoices set up for periods in the future. We have over 100 set up, up to 10 years in advance.
