Until Xero lifts the 300-line cap, the native workaround is splitting the file into several journals of up to 300 lines, each one balancing on its own.

If you post the same journal file every month (payroll, a sales summary, allocations), I run EntryRocket, which creates manual journals through the Xero API instead of the import screen. The 300-line cap does not apply there; we have posted single journals of 10,000 lines. You email the file as your system exports it, and the journal appears in Xero as a draft.

For the import side: the Xero API can create quotes even though the import screen can't. I run EntryRocket, which turns a quote spreadsheet into draft quotes in Xero, for files that come in the same layout each time. It does not copy quotes between organisations, so it won't help with moving to a new org.

Appreciate the interest in the idea here. Being open with a lot of work focused on iterating and adding features to new invoicing atm we don't have plans for this in the short-term. We'll continue to track the interest of the idea and if there is any change to share we'll update you here.

To the question about a third-party option: if your invoices exist as PDFs, I run EntryRocket, which reads the PDFs themselves and creates each invoice in Xero with its own PDF attached. One PDF holding many invoices works too; each invoice gets only its own pages. What it can't do is pair a CSV with a separate set of PDFs, so this works when the PDF is the source.
