UK Payroll: Automatically reflect statutory recoveries on balance sheet
When you pay statutory maternity pay or statutory paternity pay then 92% or 103% is recoverable from the government. This is correctly included within the P32, but not included within the automatically generated payroll journal. As a consequence, the HMRC liability on the balance sheet is overstated, as is the true salary cost. I've added a manual journal but including this within the automatic journal seems like a helpful addition.
4 votesHey Katherine 👋 thanks for sharing this idea, I'm popping in to switch it across to delivered!
Our Product team have done the work to automatically post the journal for statutory recoveries to the balance sheet 🎉

Account Transactions report - Filter by Account type
When producing an Account Transactions report, it would be helpful if we were able to filter by type (e.g. only P&L items, or only Balance Sheet items, or codes within a certain/custom range). At present, we have to select or deselect on sometimes a rather long list of accounts.
9 votesThis is possible with filters in the newer version of the Account transactions report!
You'll see Account Type as an option from Filters through which you can select which ones you'd like to make visible in your report.
You can even go a step further and group by Account Type if that's a better view for you, too.😁

AU Payroll - History audit report
Audit Report
As there are several users with full access to payroll, it would be helpful if this could be shown in the history (there is only minimal information here at present) or by report to see who has made changes to employee details within payroll and when. It would also be useful if there could be changes to the options when setting up a user as some users only require access to approve leave and print reports and not full access.3 votesThanks for your interest in this idea everyone!
Off the back of our payroll history update back in August last year, we’ve released a dedicated Payroll History report to all Australian payroll users.
You’ll now see an extra option in the Payroll menu for ‘Payroll History’. This report combines the history tab available across employee details, payslips, payroll settings and pay runs into one report.
For anyone interested in permission and more user role controls in Payroll - you might like to support and stay tuned for updates in the idea we have for this here. 🙂

Invoices/Bills - Additional options/filters when viewing invoices/bills
- There should be an option so that we can arrange bills/invoices according to suppliers /customers when processing bills/invoices just like in dext .And next option should be included in both archive and during processing bills/invoices.
- Split and merge option should be included when processing bills/invoices. 3 There should be a filter for credit note, overpayment and prepayment in archive invoices.
1 voteHi Uzair, a few ideas shared in the one post here. It's really best if we can keep each idea separate so we can gather interest in each and keep you updated of change to the product that might resolve what's being asked.
In relation to your post here we have a couple of existing ideas you may also like to add your vote for and follow for any updates.
- Bills to pay - Filters to apply when editing bills (e.g Approve & view next)
- Bills - Merge multiple bills from one supplier
In relation to invoices, you'll find when approving invoices you can Approve and view next or Approve and add another.
From the draft tab in invoices you can also select multiple invoice and use the Copy to option to create one invoice from a collection of invoices which might help when looking to merge. This way once…

profit and loss mobile
Enable the ability to generate a Profit and Loss report on the mobile phone app
1 voteHey Matthew, thanks for sharing your idea!
We've rolled out some recent changes to the Xero Accounting App, that make the Profit and loss report more consistent with the desktop version, including more accessible date filters and region specific terminology. This replaces the old 'Profit' report that you access through your Xero App dashboard 😊

Contacts - View accepted Quotes
When you view a contact, you are able to see outstanding invoices and quotations from this contact. But it will be helpful to see quotations that have been accepted by this contact to make invoicing easier.
3 votesHi community, as shared in my last update you can view both draft and accepted quotes from the Activity on a Contacts record.
I've attached an example I created in the demo co. 🙂

BAS | Activity Statement report - Ability to type custom date range
When looking for BAS transactions for your own date range under the activity statement report section, currently there are limited view period options, meaning that you have to select the dates in a calendar. Being able to type a custom date range is not an option.
It would be a lot more efficient to be able to type a custom date range as can be done with other reports.3 votesHi Community 👋
Thanks to everyone that has added their vote to this idea. We’ve just rolled out a change to Activity Statements, allowing you generate a BAS report for custom date ranges.
To check this out yourself, you can click ‘View custom date report’ in the Activity Statement page.
For more information on this change, check out our ‘View BAS reports for a custom period’ support article.

Analytics | Short term cashflow - Remove BAS & PAYG Payments
When a BAS payment is due it shows up in Analytics Plus on the due date. However when the bas or payg payment is paid early there is no way to remove it from the cashflow and it skews the cash flow workings. Can we create a way to remove these system populated entries when they are no longer correct.
4 votesHi all, we've just released an update to Short term cashflow(STCF) so you can now exclude individual BAS/PAYGW amounts from your orgs projection breakdown, when the due date falls within the selected date range of the STCF.
You can always add back any excluded amounts to the projection at a later date. 🙂

Invoices - VAT/GST/Sales Tax number on customer invoice preview
To show the customer's VAT/GST/Sales Tax number on the preview version of the customer's invoice, instead of having to download the PDF to check if it is there (after loading it via Xero Contact).
1 voteHi Kyle, the product team have been working on improving this area and have released a new invoice preview for the PDF. This will display any details you have included in the selected invoice template, so should display the customer's VAT/GST/Sales Tax number if you've included that. We hope this helps!

GL report - Include tracking categories
General ledger reports include tracking categories
5 votesHi team, as previously noted although not in the General Ledger specifically it is possible to get this information running the Account Transactions report in Xero, this can then be exported if you'd like to make use outside of Xero.
We'll mark this idea delivered with the option above, if there's particular reason you need this detail in the General Ledger welcome to add this idea back in the forums and please detail your needs to be considered.

AU Payroll: Define default leave types
Currently under employees leave tab you can assign default leave types, but you can't define what the default leave types are.
Perhaps there is a simple checkbox for leave items in the payroll settings that allows you to choose.
Currently I have 4 leave types set as default, when I only really need two.6 votesHi everyone, I'm changing this idea to Delivered! 🥳
Leave types can be defined as default when a value in the 'Normal Entitlement' field in Payroll settings is entered.
To remove this leave type from being added each time a new employee is entered, you can:
- Click into Payroll, then select Payroll settings
- Click Pay Items tab, then Leave
- Click on a Leave Type that you'd like to remove as a Default Leave Type
- Remove the number of units the employee is entitled to each year under 'Normal Entitlement'
- Click Save

in previous general ledger summary report you were bale to sort the general ledger by account code so the profit and loss and balance sheet items were grouped together in the excel report. Please can you implement this feature to the new general ledger detail report
1 voteHey Matthew, thanks for sharing this idea - this is actually already possible in the General Ledger detail report!
From the 'Grouping/Summarising' drop down menu, you can select 'Group by Account Code and Name' to organise the transactions by Account Code.
I've also included a screenshot of where to find this option 😊

Inventory - Auto stock level update.
Daily auto inventory update. Just as Vend sends through daily sales to Xero, it should be able to do this for inventory levels.
1 voteHey Bronwyn!
From your description, it sounds like Tracked Inventory in Xero would accomplish this 😊
Tracked inventory maintains a live count of your stock on hand, allowing you to report on stock quantity and value. You can read more about it here.

Customer statements - Default to today's date
With Customers statements it would be amazing if it could default to todays current date as it is always retrospective and eg today it automatically defaults to 31.03.2023 it would be so much easier to adjust back than forwards all the time .

Xero mobile app | Bank Reconciliation - Option to skip a statement line
On mobile app add option to skip an unreconciled bank transaction (eg if there is a query) so that other items can still be reconciled
2 votesHey Roger, just a quick update to let you know we've updated our reconciliation experience on the Xero App.
You'll no longer be presented with one transaction at a time, and instead will have the option to skip transactions, and return to them at a later time. For a preview of this new reconciliation experience, I've uploaded a screenshot 📸
