Organisation setting - Ability to hide/delete the demo company

Option to hide or delete the demo company in Xero.

Purpose: Often a demo company creates confusion for users, so it’s better if they can hide/delete it.

Hi everyone, the demo company provides the ability to test and trial Xero features without impacting data in your live organisation. It's especially useful when you're getting started with the product or want to see how a feature works that you haven't used before.

That said, we understand not all our customers want or need access to the demo company. We appreciate your feedback on being able to hide or remove this here, and our product team are aware of the interest and feedback surrounding this - Both from this direct thread and the previous commentary and votes from the older forum where this originated.

While we don't have immediate plans, this is an area our team are looking to review. We will update you if there is any planned changes to this, through this idea.

    What's really astonishing is that this has, actually, been voted to be one of the highest feature requests (235 votes).

    There are 210 pages of feature requests (20 requests on each page).

    And this is on the 3rd page (which means it's in the top 50 most requested features, out of 4200 feature requests).

    They haven't addressed this in 10 years. Which is wildly ignorant.

    Why aren't they just coming back, and say that they will not do this feature request? Period.

    At least we would know for a fact that this will never be looked at (they may have their solid reasons for that - although all of us believe it's dumbfounded).

    Unfortunately, it seems that Xero is focused in creating new functionality instead of fixing simple yet annoying features. 10 years of asking has not helped.

    Haven't used Xero in years, have come back but shocked this still hasn't been actioned - surely it's a quick and easy job to let users hide this??!!

    Please delete Demo from Xero Me accounts - I thought it was supposed to be for employees just to see their payslips and request leave - having access to a FULL demo company is not necessary. See how long this thread has been going - I don't hold much hope. So won't be using for my employees! Very frustrating - back to the spreadsheet!

    Why does it take so long with so many times people have to suggest to remove/hide - do you listen to your users since 2014?.

    Please remove the Demo company, or allow it to be hidden. As other users have said, it is very annoying!

    Xero - you really are not listening to a reasonable request from your customers. This reflects a 'could-care-less' attitude.

    This is not a product idea. It is adding confusion and irritation and untidyness into the use of Xero for many businesses, accountants and consultants. Archiving a company and removing from the active company list, is the way it should be done in the first place.

    Demo data is by it's very nature, inaccurate, and once it's served its purpose, a company should be able to delete it, For inactive, old companies, the same is true, unless there are legal reasons and agreed data retention periods in place. Renaming these companies with a Z prefix so they appear at the bottom of the active company list is a joke. Preventing your customers to delete or archive the data on their own system after they have requested this from you, contravenes GDPR.

    Furthermore, Xero is adding to this 'couldn't-care-less' attitude with no acknowledgement or understanding of the impact of this design flaw. This is enough for existing customers to consider switching and complain about Xero, It has an impact on Xero brand reputation. Protecting this should be a top priority for the senior leadership team.

    It's not a matter of putting a glaring design flaw to the vote on your so-called product ideas page. Please escalate this to your senior leadership team. We expect courtesy, listening, and a reasoned decision on your intention. It's not good enough to say it's still not in the plan after so many years.

    Super annoying - please allow us to get rid of it and don't bring it back every time someone joins the organisation. It's unnecessary and cluttering.

    Indeed 10 years! This new format did not import all of the comments and requests from the original forum version.

    This has to be one of the easiest fixes and yet for some reason Xero just ignores the obvious. Who needs Demo company after setup?!

    For a time I was posting a link to this thread in everything they put on their Xero Facebook posts, but that was ignored. Perhaps there is an invisibility cloak configured?

    I suspect the Meme idea is highly likely "can we make it to 10 YEARS of ignoring this request".
