Projects - Ability to import to projects
Ability to import bills, invoices and project lists into Xero Projects.
Purpose: It is beneficial for organisation that heavily rely on Xero projects, as this feature will help them do their invoicing and track their expenditure.

We use two programs, one of which imports all bills, invoices and inventory in Xero. It would be nice to be able to use Xero Projects to manage the costings against each invoice to see if there is profit or loss made. At the moment Xero does not have the ability for it. It is too time consuming to manually add to a project after it is imported.

As mentioned below, it would significantly speed up the conversion process for new customers to be able to import projects as part of the conversion of opening balances process. Doing this manually is very time consuming.

We are switching from a sole trader to a company and having to recreate all projects will be terribly time consuming. Being able to upload as we did with our contacts would save so much time

This is such a fundamental feature that is missing that I assume it is putting off a lot of potential customers straight away in the research phase. Because you aren't getting those customer you therefore aren't seeing how big of an issue it is because they're not here to ask for it.
I've got a number of clients this would be great for but we're using other systems due to this feature mising.

v important. when will this be available?

It's unbelievable that a field for "Project Name" is not available in transaction import templates (such as invoices etc.). It is not feasible to assign a project to transactions manually after importing.

"Extremely important when switching over from another system into xero"

Why wouldn't this be possible, especially as 'Projects' is an add on. If you decide to add on later down the line, it is a LOT of work to add individually. When is Xero going to maker this possible?

It is important to import timesheets into Xero to make invoicing more easy. At this moment you have to enter timesheets 1 by 1 which is very time consuming.

It would be very beneficial to be able to import project numbers, names, clients and possibly connect timesheets to the projects.
Often Project management software doesn't include financials but to update the data in 2 separate pieces of software is an overhead headache, being able to move data back and forth, even through the import of .csv files would be very beneficial and allow Xero to become a primary financial tool for organizations.

I would not purchase the additional projects component without this being possible as it just adds unnecessary work load

We need to be able to import Project from our other system into Xero. Our projects are typically a couple of days each and to have to Manually enter each one is just extra work. It should be a simple task of having some import feature from a CSV I cannot understand why it has not been implemeted.

How is this not active yet?

This is the single reason we are aren't migrating to xero. We really liked the software, but the volume of transactions we deal with means we bulk import them in and to then manually go in to each line and have to manually import them does not work for us and would cost us to much time in comparison to our other system.
