Organisation settings - Dark mode

Ability to change darker backgrounds in Xero.

Purpose: White text against a Dark Background, is easier to see for the eyes.

Hi all, appreciate the interest in this idea and its importance to help reduce eye strain and headaches for improved user comfort, especially during extended usage.

We understand that this has been a longstanding request, and we genuinely appreciate your patience and dedication to making Xero an even better platform for all.

While this may be a function we look to explore in the long-term, we want to be upfront that this is not something we'll be developing in the near term due to the complexities involved and the need to prioritise other impactful updates. We know that this may be disappointing but hope that this provides some clarity.

In the meantime, as some users have mentioned you may be able to use a third-party app like Google's High Contrast, which allows you to change the colour on your screen to make it easier to read.

    A strong vote for a DARK MODE option. Dark mode is so much easier on the eyes for us who are staring at a screen all day.

    Yes please for dark mode!!!
    All our other programs support a dark mode, so switching into Xero is a bit blinding for me some days!!!

    Your web application should support dark mode in 2023 out of the box. Please implement the option for a theme choice. End of day I do my accounts, after all those hours my retinas are burning as I try to send quotes and invoices.

    My eyes get very tired as I work in a very bright office space, I have done all I can with the screen I use and to reduce natural bright light. Dark mode on Xero would make my hours spent on the software more bearable!!

    Code it and watch the MASSIVE wave of migration!!!

    10 second search on google:

    * 91.8% of software developers prefer dark mode, according to Stack Overflow’s 2020 survey.
    * Within **24 hours** of the macOS Mojave launch, approximately 39.6% of users enabled dark mode, according to a study by JetBrains.
    * 83% of Reddit users on the app have enabled dark mode as of 2021, mentioned by Reddit Admins.
    * The average power savings resulting from using dark mode on OLED smartphone displays is about 60%, according to a study conducted by Purdue University.
    * The adoption rates for dark mode and are between 55% and 70% among Apple iOS users.

    This is a VERY large percentage of your user-base that you are alienating by not offering a dark mode option in 2023!

    I wouldn't mind betting that practically ZERO Xero software engineers are coding this app with light mode enabled in their editor.

    Why must Xero users continue to suffer??? When do you plan to deliver on "Beautiful"?

    We need to have the option for Dark Mode, staring at bright monitors day or night for extended periods asks for rest on the eyes.

    We can use the Edge browser Experimental features to force dark mode on webpages, but the UI isn't perfect.

    How hard is this to implement? Probably costs less than $1000 in programmer time, and it would be a big improvement.

    This would be an amazing product update. As someone whose eye sight struggles to adjust to back grounds with lots of white it would make life a **** of a lot easier.

    It would be great if Xero would offer a 'dark theme' for users. I find the white/grey background tiring on my eyes if I'm using Xero for more than a couple of hours. Just as phones have this option and also Google does (learned that recently!) it would be great if Xero could offer the same option to toggle on and off - plus it looks good!
