to be able to default 'All Contacts' either by Surname, First Name OR First Name, Surname. My scheduling system is by Surname, First Name however Xero randomly flips this around which affects everything including reports and my scheduling system where they are list in both formats.

This would provide a much easier way to determine duplicate contacts when importing or accidentally created by spelling mistakes etc
To find John Smith, J Smith, Smith you would need to see it in 3 positions in the current setup. Whereas if a search on Smith as the surname, all would be in the 1 position and much easier to spot and correct. -

When we set up our customers we have to set them up with surname first so when we search we can find them. Our problem is when we print or email invoices it reflects this rather than first name than surname. We would like to be able to address them as MR JOHN BROWN but still search surname when entering

Not only last names but also customer numbers. We have customers with various accounts and pinpointing the correct one requires the customer number.

Aged Receivables report is difficult to use when customer names are sorted by Contact. The contact field combines salutation and first name, then surname. The more logical approach inin managing aged accounts is to sort by Surname first.
