Inventory - Bundle multiple products together within tracked inventory
Bundle multiple products together within tracked inventory.
Purpose: To track sales for individual items that are sold together as a bundle at a different cost than the individual items.

i'm trying to set xero up for a veterinary practice (All the practice management software that i tried has very little accounting functionality)
So a feature such as this will help a great deal. I'm actually surprised that its not a standard feature. -

Im bundling individual products for kits and party bags.
It’s very hard to track inventory when there’s no feature for this.
-
Martin Howard commented
Having an inventory module without this functionality is like using a bucket that leaks from a hole in the bottom.
Come on Xero, take this one to the top of the pile -
Anthony Adamson commented
Does anyone from Xero even read these? It is like they gave us a forum to just vent about all the small things they refuse to address.

I consider Xero the best on the market but without this available I'm stuck with Quickbooks as I can't afford the staff time it would take to add in all the parts individually on every quote. Please sort this urgently and you'll have my business.

@XERO please answer where this idea is at??? Is this at all happening in the future?
Please add this feature! We are looking at changing to MOYB for this reason which is frustrating because moving across will be extremely time consuming.
We are a manufacturing company that makes large robotic tractors. Each tractor has sub parts such as the bonnet, front chassis, and rear chassis. But each sub part has hundreds of parts that are welded and machined together.
Right now owe can't properly track our inventory at all. We can track inventory into the business but not out because XERO requires every line item on the invoice in order to realise inventory stock has decreased.
As you can tell with thousands of parts an invoice that recorded every part would be pages long. All we want to give our customer is a clean easy to read invoice that can say 2 tractors, or 4 bonnets and 2 front chassis and this is exactly what we do. However, this does not allow us to record the decrease of inventory.Secondly, having the ability to reserve inventory (inventory in-use) when allocated to a project would also be HIGHLY helpful. Rather than waiting till the end once a job is invoiced and the inventory count is decreased. That way owe can see what stock is already allocated for and how much more we need to order.

Cant believe I left Zoho Books only to go backwards with Xero. This feature is crucial. Get your act together please guys.

Can someone from Xero comment on this? There have been a lot of issues relating to inventory that are being ignored and this makes no sense considering that Xero acquired LOCATE.
On November 11, 2021 (473 days ago), Xero made this announcement.
"Xero will embed LOCATE’s inventory management capability, talent and expertise into Xero to focus on building a new cloud inventory management solution so you'll be able to better manage your inventory and improve your financial performance."
This sounds great. When is it happening? How much will it cost? Will some of the more basic options (like kitting) get integrated into Xero I have now or will I need to pay more for a lot of inventory features I don't need?
It would make a lot of us feel better if we knew this was still in development and had a rough idea of when it will roll out. It seems like all these issues are being ignored and if I have to pay double for these features when I am a small family business with stock in my garage I will be forced to look elsewhere.

We are now paying for something separate and will no longer use Xero projects because xero cannot do this!
Please allow the ability for subparts to make an item. Not having this feature is so so frustrating I can't stress this enough. I know Myob has this capability.
Secondly, can we please have the ability to schedule/book inventory and items to a job so they are already in use to prevent reports from showing inventory as still 'there' ready for use when it is not.

Is it possible to have a list of individual items in the description field(s) which are a group and have individual values and quantities (only viewable to the author of the invoice - and are always viewable in the invoice history) and the sum of that group of the line items, within that group are shown as a total ONLY to the customer (invoice recipient) -- there can be a number of these within an invoice

Where are all the inventory updates that are supposed to be coming after Xero acquired Locate?
I'm really surprised at how slow the product roadmap seems to be when they are on stage saying this is a priority. Hopefully 2023 will be a busy year for (just basic!) Inventory Management in Xero. -
Anthony Adamson commented
Make this happen, please. Or you could reply and let us know you are on it. Or not on it. Or going to make us pay for it? Or something.

Urgently required, along with the ability to put items on back-order. I'm seriously thinking of switching to a different accounting software.

Hi. it would be great if this feature can be implemented soon. We sell items as a kit but buy them individually. being able to create a kit or bundle would me such a benefit to our business.
-
Nikki Smith commented
We have taken on a client who sells kits that are made up of several components, managing stock/inventory outside of Xero is time consuming and costs more for the client (my time). This request has been raised before, but not implemented despite there being several discussions about making this service available in Xero. This needs addressing

Item, Product or Service, Quote
Most users of Xero sell products or services.
A product or a service may consist of many items within the product or service.
So to build a product or service which could have multiple item within it, for a user to add to a quote or an invoice, there should have a feature were you can add multiple items to build a product or services.
In the products and services tab there needs to be an item tab which hold information on a particular item cost price, sell price (which should also hold information like supplier, mark up percentage) very similar to adding a service or product currently but with a little more detail. Then the user can pick multiple item to build there product or service, see example below
Example; I have based this on a double socket outlet a product I currently sell.
So the product would have a code and name (Code: DSW) (Product: Double PVC Socket White)
So to build this product you would choose multiple items
So select an item, then a quantity
Cable, 30
Back box, 1
PVC socket 1
Labour .75 of an hourThis will give you a total product cost and sell price.
NOTE the item cost should update automatically in the product when updating the item.Hope this makes sense
