UK Payroll - Ability to change Pay Periods
We have hourly paid employees who get paid 12 x per year with either a 4 week or 5 week pay period. At present, Xero doesn't give this option to change a pay period within payroll calendars. There are only set pay periods.

It is not uncommon for staff to be paid on the last Friday of the month. I only moved my client to Xero payroll to be able to integrate with another piece of software. I was unconvinced that Xero payroll would be a good enough option. This has made my mind up I will never put another client on Xero for payroll

I'm very surprised this doesn't already exist as a feature. It's very disappointing to see so many comments requesting this functionality over the past two years and yet Xero still haven't implemented it. We may need to look at alternative Payroll software.

desperately needed

This feature is essential because we can't set up the correct employee pay window. This means the wrong dates are displayed on payslips. This confuses our team because they are not getting paid for the dates shown.
We need to change the calendar dates every time we run payroll. So the pay period starts on the right day.
This also has a knock-on effect that when we enrol an employee into a pension, we can't select the first day of the next pay period because the calendar is incorrect for our pay dates. -

Our business runs 2 structures for Payroll. Salaried staff on a monthly calender, and hourly paid staff paid on a 4/4/5 week basis. Our entire business reporting is based on the 4/4/5 week structure, so without this change, then our staff payslips will not match the timeperiod for which they are being paid. please can you prioritise this idea?

Looking at all the comments, it appears that this is a common issue that we are having to deal with.
To process our payroll we need to be able to change the pay period to accommodate 4 and 5 week pay periods.
We moved over to Xero so that we could import our timesheets directly onto Xero but have been unable to do this because of the set pay periods.
Please could this be sorted ASAP. -

It appears Xero is no longer keen on the UK market.

XERO: Why haven't you implemented this yet, when UK customers especially are telling you that we need this facility?
You're still managing to take our monthly subscription for a product that you told us was useful software, but doesn't do the job we need it to. Do we get a discount on our subscription because we have to spend so much time faffing about, making adjustments that you could make so simple? -

AU - I agree this is a feature that one would assume would be fairly easy to implement but can make a world of difference to the user and employees. We have 6 monthly payments that we make but have to select Quarterly but reset it each time it's not used. Lots of software now allows you to select payment frequency of daily/weekly/monthly/yearly and then how frequently it is paid So for 6 monthly select, monthly and to occur every 6. Perfecto!

We also have the same problem and reported this months ago. I always have to provide a note on staff payslips of the actual pay period in case they are needed at banks for employees to obtain personal loans. It would be great if this could be sorted out ASAP and then I would be more confident in using the timesheets feature of Xero.

We have the same issue - it is VERY common for UK plc to pay on the last (x)day of the month! This means 4 and/or 5 week months.
I note that Xero have ignored this problrm for over a year now, so a good indication that Xero have no intention of fixing this.
Not happy.

We've had several clients move off Xero as a platform for all services as it can't deal with this payroll processing

UK - It's so important that pay periods are flexible. As a matter of fact, it's a deal breaker for at least one client.

AU - having the same problem. It needs to be more flexible to allow variations as all industries are different. I know Xero method is keeping it simple, but not all business models fit into the set standards. Having the same issue as previously highlighted. Our employees are paid on the last thursday of the month and nothing in xero can accomodate this.

We need the option to change the pay period to accomodate 4 and 5 week pay periods. Currently Xero does not give this option - there are just set pay periods which just doesnt fit in with our payroll.

We have the same issue.
It would be very useful to be able to change the pay period to accommodate 4 and 5 week pay periods.
At the very least, to be able to take off the pay period on the payslip so that it just shows the month number rather than the dates.
