Expenses: Automatic mileage tracking
Quickbooks has "motion tracking" mileage, meaning the user doesn't have spent time entering their starting and final postcodes, they literally just turn the feature on and it auto records their mileage via GPS. I have clients (using Xero) who are on the road everyday for business purposes and this feature would be so useful for them to save time.

Hi everyone, thank you for feeding back and sharing with us through the idea here. We appreciate why you'd like to see automated mileage tracking developed within Xero expenses.
While our team have a keen eye on the idea and interest in exploring this in the future we want to be open that resources are across other important work atm and there are no plans to develop this, this year.
We'll continue to track the interest and keep you updated of any change for this through the idea, here.

Disappointing that there are no plans to develop this feature atm, not least given the time elapsed since it was originally flagged as a shortfall when compared to your competitors. Without it, Xero Me is not fit for our purposes, so we'll have to look elsewhere to track our teams mileage and expenses.

Agreed! I have a client that I would like to migrate to Xero from QBO and she is almost ready but without this feature for herself and her contractors, she is not able to do so. Please add this simple feature! My client depends on it! Then she will be ready to migrate!

I came across this feature too. In fact, I signed up for Expenses just to simplify keeping track of mileage, but the feature is pretty disappointing. From literally every aspect.
I actually don't need any reimbursement functionality tied to this, as it is my own business and all I want to do is tracking mileage for tax purposes. From that perspective, the feature is kind of useless in its current state and I will go back to a spread sheet.
To cut a long story short, I think an improvement to the mileage tracking feature is way overdue and competitors are pulling ahead which makes them more attractive from that perspective. I would like to see at least a simplified way of choosing start and finish location and not be limited to those two only, as you might have stops in between. Or travel from A to B and back to A.
Also, just for business owners without the need to reimburse, the feature should support their need of tracking km. -

We and our clients would like a mileage tracker - via a mobile app which isn't an add on with additional costs. It seems FreeAgent and Quickbooks offer this feature as part of the subscription without additional costs for small and sole trade businesses.

Would be great if this could be available within the main Xero App so that the client doesn't need the expenses function.

A running total of the app of miles claimed this tax year would also help with selecting the claimable rate and with tax returns

1000% agreed. I'm having a hard time convincing small business clients to switch from QBO because they get automatic mileage tracking included with QBO.
Also would be nice to include automatic mileage tracking for Early and Growing plans. Most owner-operator small business don't need full a full employee expense reimbursement solution - they just need to track their business miles.
