Quotes - Ability to set default for Discount by % or amount
While it's nice to be able to enter a fixed value discount in our business we use % discounts only. We find the new quote discount field feature that requires a % for the discount or it defaults to $ amounts is causing us to make errors. This is especially confusing as it use to default to % and the invoice still does. I have a couple of suggested updates:
- Create a site wide setting to choose whether your default is $ or %.
- Include a dollar symbol when it is a fixed amount discount to highlight it's not a percentage.

Having to enter % each time is time consuming when you have multiple lines with different discounts. Mistakes are easily made giving a dollar discount instead of a percentage discount. Definitely should be an option to change this. Mistakes have already been made!!

Hi Xero Team,
Has there been a solution to this issue as yet , we are being forced to go to New Style of invoicing next month and this is causing us mistakes on our invoices leading to money loss and upset customers

Just started using this function and nearly made a massive loss. At least give as an option of default unit.

Fully support this. There should be an option to make the discount in % the default. Or make an option in the settings to choose discount by default % or in $. The way it is in Quotes and New Invoices is confusing and causes errors.

Our client is really unhappy with this, which has caused her errors and lost profits. Please create a fix for this issue.

Please, we need this fixed ASAP. We agree also! It is creating small little errors but can be very impactful for the overall amount on the quote or invoice!

Yes please, we need this fixed urgently - our sales people are making errors as we use % discounts only.

Yes I agree ...
The other problem than what you have stated is that when invoicing the same option isn't there so then you have to work out what the $ value is into a percentage ...I HAVE TO GO BACK TO MYOB to work that out !! should never have left them !! at least they have a call service to talk to someone ...
worst part is they have no phone number and you feel helpless
