Timesheets AU - Allow employee's to add notes in 'Total hours worked' earning rate
Inside Xero Me, when you set your Timesheet type to "Start and end times" you can add notes for working days.
It would be great if we could add notes when we have our Timesheet type set to "Total hours worked".
As an employee, not being able to add a note & select an earning type is inconvenient and can cause confusion which leads to slower timesheet approvals

Client staff timesheets can either be total hours worked wherein they can select shift types OR they are start and finish times which allow notes to be entered however the staff cannot select shift type.
Can there be an update where staff can select shift types AND add notes?
For example, for a care business,
- staff member 1 - enters total hours worked and is able to select if she works Saturday or Sunday etc (she doesn't travel)
- staff member 2 - enters start and finish time and notes regarding km's travelled however all shifts are entered as "day shift" and therefore timesheet has to be adjusted (after being approved by their boss) prior to payroll processingContacted Xero Support and they confirmed the below:
"Currently, Xero Payroll does have some limitations in combining all these features in a single timesheet entry. The system is designed with two primary timesheet types:
1. Total hours worked: This allows selection of shift types but doesn't include a notes field or start/finish times.
2. Start and finish times: This allows for notes (such as kilometers traveled) but doesn't allow for shift type selection.
Unfortunately, there isn't a built-in way to have both shift type selection and notes in the same timesheet entry at this time. This can indeed create challenges for businesses like yours that need both functionalities." -

In a similar way, I would like to add additional details beside each earning line. For example, we currently have 'hourly pay' & 'rate' but would also like a line item to add a reference for that line items eg. date the earning occurred or job notes for that pay item. Is this possible in Xero?

How this is a function available on start/end times but not hours worked is beyond me. It should be made available ASAP.

Critical for myself and collegues to be able to add via 'add Note' option the Kilometres travelled with clients on my timesheet when set to Total Hours worked.

In the UK, we don't have these "Start and end times" you refer to, which we would like to have.
It would also be good to have a stopwatch built into Xero Me so the user manually starts and stops it and the app creates the "Start and end times" based on this.
It would be good that this stopwatch had an optional discreet audible alert reminder that pinged every 15 minutes and also that the stopwatch was always visible on the mobile device's screen, e.g. Android phone, through a widget or similar.

This is what we need also!! I would like our employees to add notes to their days however our employees use the total hours function which doesn’t allow them to add notes. They can’t use the start and end times as this doesn’t allow them to select the correct rate for the day.

Thanks Luke, we would also like the option to use notes with total hours to allow for the option to choose an alternate pay item, in our case TOIL accrued.

Xero does not have a function that will allow your employees to include a note under each timesheet input.
Multiple time slots per day will need a note/description box.
E.G. Contractors. Visits multiple jobs per day and needs time per job and a note (what was compleated)
