We don't have any plans for this at present, but make sure you share the idea with other colleagues that could also find this useful so we can get a wider understanding of the interest.

Hi Cody, thanks for sharing such detailed feedback on progressive billing for fixed-price tasks. It’s really helpful to hear how this could support projects that run across multiple stages.

For the payroll drop tap it would be good if we could have notification numbers next to say leave request and timesheets. Like the notifications of expenses.
This helps to keep track on all leave submissions and what's approved. -

Thanks for your detailed feature request to introduce task categories and sub-tasks in Xero Projects.
We’ve reviewed your submission and have now moved it to the Gaining Support stage.

Hi everyone, we appreciate wanting the ability to assign files to the project itself. While this isn't something we have planned right now we'll keep tracking the interest through the idea here.
To highlight, though not currently available on the Project directly, it's possible to attach files to the individual transactions within a project e.g a Bill, Invoice, Spend money or Expense. i
Along with this, you may also find it useful to create folders within your Files library where you can collect all files related to a specific project for ease of reference.
Understand this isn't the ideal solution, but may help some for now 🙂

Assign staff as bulk. At the moment I need to add everyone who I want to assign to a project individually and then click done and then go back to assign and do it again. It would be easy if we could select the staff once and once click done.

Understanding that sub menus or more levelled drop downs could be helpful in some places, this is an idea our product team have a close eye on.

Hi team, we get how useful it'd be to add a task or reminder in Xero and see it again the next time you log in.
We've just released custom Tasks to the Homepage Tasks widget so you can capture work that Xero doesn’t create tasks for automatically.
Simply use the 'New Task' button in the Tasks widget, or the '+' icon in the widget once typed, to create a one-off task. You can then edit, mark it complete, delete it or view completed tasks.
At a glance you'll be able to get a view of the things you need to follow-up, and help you track progress within Xero. ✅
Any user in your organisation with Standard or Adviser access will be able to make use of this tool for their personal organisation.
We appreciate your inputs and helping us understand how tasks could be more meaningful for your workflows.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your support and feedback of how changes in navigation could help your use of Xero. While not across all areas of the product there are some updates in Bills that we wanted to share and may help the needs of some in the idea here.
We've launched Bills quick view where there's now an eye icon within the line of the bills list. From here you'll find more ease in viewing, and more recently being able to edit bills from this view without having to leave the list, meaning you can simply make adjustments and move from one bill to the next.
We'll continue to explore and develop solutions like this to help our customers get more out of Xero on the go. I'll keep you informed of other updates that could enhance your experience, here.

It would be helpful when you look invoices or bills, you could go back where you were not start of the page.
Sometimes when projects take months to complete or client comes back requiring information of their product years later. So when looking 1 bill from supplier and you might have to open one by one. Then when you go back Xero takes you to the start of the page and you need to go and find again where you were. This can take so much time.Tia Toppinen

Hi there, as part of our ongoing review process, we’re in the process of updating our idea statuses to better track Xero Product Ideas.
We’ve taken another look at this idea. Whilst we can see the value for payroll administrators to be able to view the payslip in PDF from within the Employee’s record, this update doesn’t currently fit into our product team’s road map. We’ll move this idea to a status of Accepted and will continue to review this in future planning.

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback and votes on adding birthday notifications to Australian payroll - we understand how this could help with team celebrations and managing age-based award rate compliance.
After reviewing with our product team, this feature isn't currently on our roadmap, and we'll update the status to 'Not in Pipeline'. Right now, setting up an external calendar could help you track these important dates.

Sub-projects would be a valuable feature for managing larger projects, such as a large residential build.
For example, we could have a main project called BC House with a total value of $2 million. Under this main project, we could create smaller sub-projects for individual rooms or specific areas of work. This would allow us to track labour hours and materials used for each room separately, as well as invoice the client room by room, while keeping all costs and records linked to the main project.
Sub-projects would also be useful for managing variations or additional work. If extra work is required outside the original scope, we could create a separate sub-project to record all the additional labour, materials, and costs accurately without losing the connection to the main project.
Currently, I have a project with 13 rooms, and I need to create two tasks for each room, bringing the total to 26 tasks. On top of that, there are six general tasks that apply to every project, bringing the total to 32 tasks. This makes the project more complicated to manage and creates a long list of tasks for both management and workers to navigate.
Benefits for Workers
From the workers' perspective, sub-projects would make daily time tracking much simpler and more intuitive. Instead of scrolling through a long list of tasks, they could simply select the room or area they have been working on, such as the Kitchen, open it, and record their hours against the relevant activity, such as installation or construction.
This approach would make it easier for workers to record their time accurately, reduce confusion, and improve the overall tracking of labour and materials.
Overall, sub-projects would provide a clearer structure for managing large projects, simplify time tracking for workers, improve cost visibility for management, and make room-by-room invoicing and additional work tracking much more efficient—all while keeping everything connected to the main project.
