Profit & Loss Report - compare tracking categories
Thanks for adding the new "compare tracking categories" in the new Profit & Loss Report.
However, even with this additional development the new version of Profit & Loss Report requires you to manually add each tracking category one by one. Having the feature of "select all" reinstated as the old version did would be really helpful.
Having limited tracking categories to 200 isn’t helpful, previously Xero was able to search across an unlimited number of tracking categories, but only report on the active ones.
I’m sure there are many users that have more than 200 tracking categories (not always active but not suitable to archive). Having to manually select each tracking category isn’t an efficient use of time.
Please review this development and align the new version Profit & Loss to the old version functionality.

I completely agree. Having to manually select each tracking category individually isn’t an efficient use of time when it is required to have visibility for all the categories month on month.
Although it is possible to edit the layout of the profit and loss report to include columns for monthly tracking categories, this approach would result in a report that is overly complex and difficult to understand. Therefore, the only other option is to create a separate report for each month. However, this defeats the purpose of having a single report that includes all categories for any selected number of months.
Surely I can't be that difficult to fix this Xero?

Have a look at https://xpna.co - you can build hierarchies out of tracking category options, and group them according to your needs (all / some / one), then run tracking category P&L reports and even Balance Sheets.
So you can build job profitability reports, or grant acquittal reports for NFP if that's what your business needs.

Totally Agree. It has become very difficult to track job profitability. Tracking job profitability is one of the most important features we liked about XERO. Very disappointed that the feature has been difficult to track. My whole team prefer the previous report.

Removing this option is a real retrograde step and not at all helpful. This report is now so laborious to use as I have to do multiple downloads and then merge them all together in excel.

I agree with this but this is a duplicate request. See: https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198-for-small-businesses/suggestions/46845046-profit-loss-report-compare-tracking-categories

I totally agree. I am really struggling to do management reporting by property now (property is a tracking code). It's actually embarrassing to tell the Director that Xero no longer does this. So unprofessional.

Agreed with Peter Miles' comment. Whoever also having the same issues as ours, we seek your support to vote for this case so that Xero support can keep the old P&L report until the new report can accommodate the old report feature.
We are happy to see Xero is having improvement, but we wish to see these changes improve the reporting but not as of now few step backward. This is not reasonable to request user to generate different reports and combine manually with the different account code listing and also tracking option.

The old Profit and Loss Report, will print all of our job activity for the full 12 months. And will also export it perfectly, for all 113 jobs.
The new format report will not produce a report, just a message in the bottom left corner "Sorry, something went wrong" not really much help !
I tried printing in steps, a selection of jobs at a time, much as advised by Xero Support above.
However, as the accounts used in each are not the same, the alignment is all over the place and crazily time consuming.
I would like to urgently request that the old P&L report is not abandoned at the end of the month, and kept until such time as the new report functions completely.
Thanks

New report - Profit and Loss with less than 200 tracking option
My company only has 142 tracking option but still unable to generate all the division code in separate column under one report. Xero support advise to generate shorter period i.e a week and combine the report. That is really not logical for the new change yet unable to meet the old report requirement.
Please consider to expand the capability of the new profit and loss report allow to at least generate all the tracking option less than 200 for at lease a month under one report.

Absolutely agree! The new format can't even allow my company to generate the tracking category within 100 division code.
My few companies rely on the existing report which can show all the division code default by separate column and in one report to do many other calculation.
Please consider to keep the old report until the new report can develop with the same features.
