Bills - Direct Payment Link (ASB or Kiwibank)
I would like to protest the removal of the ASB direct bank link for paying invoices.
The attraction of Xero is that it makes it faster and easier to run a business. The direct payment link was one of the features I appreciated most as it removed the friction from the process of monthly bill payments.
Connecting and interacting with your bank electronically is one of the key deliverables of Xero webware and it seems daft to remove it.
Can Xero review this decision please?

Hi all, appreciate the interest and rationale in wanting to be able to keep the direct payment link feature. Unfortunately, due to low usage levels, we did make the difficult decision to retire this functionality to focus on other products and features that are more heavily used by our customers. We’re sorry this is disappointing.

This is a complete step backwards. More work for a lot of ust that use this daily.

I also agree with the comments a step backwards for Xero and more work for those of us who use the feature for every payment

Please restore this feature.
This has basically doubled the workload of payment processing. I am dealing with multiple bank accounts within Xero and would like to understand the rationale behind Xero removing a great and functioning process.
If Xero can respond on this that would be good as this seems to be a very backward step.

I've recently come to learn about the removal of the ASB direct bank link. Our accounts department relied heavily on this feature, and its absence complicates their workflow considerably.
While I may not be directly involved in the payment process, I've seen firsthand the efficiency it brought to our team. The direct link allowed for a smooth transition between Xero and our bank, ensuring a swift, secure, and error-free process. The added steps will not only consume valuable time but also increase the likelihood of errors.
This decision seems counterintuitive, especially when we're all striving for more streamlined operations. I echo the sentiments of others and sincerely hope Xero reconsiders this move. It's truly a step backward.

I also raised this with Xero last week.
As an admin officer, I have Xero access to be able to do things like the reconciling, bill payment set up etc, but direct bank access is reserved to our Directors only. This ensures that the Directors maintain oversight and control of the company accounts and that there is a separation of responsibilities/access for security purposes, but that the Directors are able to delegate most of the day to day work.
At the moment all they have to do is review the batch summary, log into the bank and authorise. Without the direct payments feed it is going to create more work for our Directors as they will have to log into Xero, download the batch file, then upload it to the bank.
This is a really backwards step.
