Receive Money - Ability to assign to a project
User can allocate a Project from spend monies directly from the bank reconciliations, but cannot allocate received monies to a Project?

Seems projects overall is not properly thought on Xero!

Another vote, and well said below: The only workaround appears to be to create a fake credit note and to assign the line items on that invoice. There is strictly no logic to this, and it creates significant additional work for users whose time is already stretched.

Another vote for this - this is a really essential feature for not-for-profit organisations to account for grants and donations into a project

Another vote for this feature please, I've just come across it and suddenly my project is vastly under funded with only a very time consuming solution to remedy.

"Spend Money" transactions can be assigned directly to a Project (i.e. without a corresponding Bill), but "Receive Money" transactions cannot be assigned directly.

As noted by other contributors, there are many project scenarios when money is received without an invoice having been issued.
Xero team - please give this the attention that it needs and deserves!

Xero have ignored this issue, i raised it years ago, its a simple fix and they charge more for having Projects and you can't assign a project to a credit. The time consuming workaround is you have to generate an invoice and assign the items to a project and then assign the credit to the invoice etc... that is fine if you have a small number of items, when you are selling 100's of items, its a time consuming and waste of our time. Xero management just have ignored this issue!

I just don't understand why this is not implemented - if I can assign a debit, why can't I assign a credit. I don't even know what the work around is.

Having to do a work around to find the right place to make received monies appear on a project is so complicated - especially if it is something that can be easily done with money spent...

I can't beleive that Xero hasn't implemented this, we have been asking for this for 3 yrs now.

Projects to support income, as well as expenditure.

It would be helpful when tracking projects to be able to assign "received money" to the project to be able to track the project financials accurately.
Currently there is no option when receiving money to allocate it to a project, unless it is an invoice. -

Please can this function be added. This helps us assign refund of cash advances to projects accordingly.

Allowing received money to be allocated to a project without an invoice is imperative in order for project costings to be accurate

This is essential for any project based company that receives funds via credit card or PayPal (effectively anyone who deal B2C). I am amazed this hasn't been completed yet as effectively you cannot check profitability of a project if you cannot allocate funds received to a project. how can you make an effective business decision if you have incomplete data

We're a nonprofit and I have income from donations that I would like to add/track in a project. It would be good to be able to add a Receive Money transaction. All workarounds eg adding negative expenditure, are inelegant.

Hello,
This is critical to our business to ensure that our project costs are accurate. If we do not assign a 'receive money' transaction to the project then the project costs are overestimated.
The only way I can think of getting around this is create a dummy credit note, but this is not the correct way to be keeping records of our transactions.
Please can this feature be added :) -

Yes, this is absolutely critical. We have no ability to add income to projects and easily job cost. Please add this ability.

Enable income lines to be reconciled to Xero Projects in the same way that expenditure lines are.
It's currently impossible to add income to a Xero Project without creating an Invoice.
There are some income lines which won't have an invoice attached (refunds, for example, or grant income or donations, if you're a charity), and will instead have grant letters, emails, or remittance forms not made in Xero. It's currently impossible to use Xero Projects to manage budgets precisely, because those kinds of income can't be included.
