This is so important if you are trying to do project costing. Xero projects is currently so separate from the accounting of expenses (for purposes of allocating overhead). We apply direct expenses, but anything indirect cannot be appropriately allocated to a project. I want to be able to track and classify over time whether I'm over or under applying overhead.

I need to post my expenses (which are reimbursed) to a particular project.

I post employee expenses through Manual Journals and then reimburse these costs to the employee... however I can't allocate the costs to a project?

Does anyone know a way around this?

It's such a surprise Xero can't see such obvious needs....

Although this only has 9 votes currently, surely this is a massive issue? How can anyone using projects NOT need this? Being unable to allocate manual journal lines to projects severely hampers the efficiency and effectiveness of the Project module and requires multiple manual workarounds for reporting.

It should be possible to allocate journals by project and tracking category to ensure accurate record keeping.

For accurate Project reporting manual journals must have an option to allocate to a project
