New Invoicing - Reduce number of steps and clicks
New invoicing has introduced more clicks, taps, steps at almost every level.
Please remove the added friction as it increases processing time.The "new invoicing" messages are full of comments regarding where these pressure points have been added.

Along with the changes mentioned in my last update, we've since released a change to the view of an invoice to shift details back into their own columns (similar to classic), while a small change we know it's improved visibility for some of our customers.

New Invoicing - Make the History & Notes the same as in Classic Invoicing
Please leave the history of an invoice EXACTLY as it was in the classic invoicing.
The new invoicing doesn't show the invoice that it was copied from or copied to and this is very important as a trail.
I really don't understand why so many important features from the classic invoicing has been omitted.

let your customers continue using the classic invoicing as they like

We appreciate this is something we've heard a fair amount of feedback on and we hope helps in your journey to using new invoicing.

New Invoicing - Reduce the amount of empty space on screen
Have less white space on new invoicing as it fills screen. The notes section which is in contacts 4000 chars make visable and editable on the new invoice page so we can see it whilst creating and invoice. We dont then have to keep jumping from one page to the next.
378 votesThanks to everyone that participated in and shared back on the team’s research in the new invoicing layout. Taking your feedback on board our teams have made some improvements to the layout of new invoicing, including changes to the layout of fields and buttons.
By rearranging and condensing space between fields, you’ll find there is less white space than previously shown, making it easier to navigate and tab through fields when entering your invoices.We’re actively looking into changes within the invoicing grid that’ll go further to condensing information on the screen and reducing actions when entering your invoices. We’ll update as there is more information to share on this.

This is an existing feature on classic invoicing, why would you drop it!431 votesHi everyone, to keep you updated on this idea work in this space will provide the ability to add a new blank row to your invoice one at a time. Once added you'll also have the ability to drag and drop the row to where you'd like it placed in your invoice, which we know some customers use to help format their invoices and space lines out.
I appreciate that some customers have mentioned wanting to add multiple blank rows at once, and want to be open that this isn't planned with this release.
Being under development atm, we plan to have this to you all before classic invoicing is retired and I'll be back as soon as it's out to let you know, here.

New Invoicing - Add new Tracking option
The ability to add a tracking code from within the 'new invoicing' bills.

We will keep you updated on change for being able to add new tracking options when using new invoicing here, however if there are other items that you'd like to see developed please do make sure you've joined and are following updates for these too.
I can confirm our team have work underway to improve the line item grid where you enter detail of your invoice. Part of this work includes the ability to add new tracking options without navigating away from the invoice.
For now we'll move this idea to working on it and I'll be back to share when there's more news of this going live for you all.

New Invoicing - Option to edit 'Attention' field in customer address
In new invoicing, please revert the ability to edit the postal address 'attention' box, back to the same as classic invoicing. Property managers want the owner's name included in the invoice address, so for each invoice I produce, I need to change the person's name in the 'attention' box. Previously this could be done by clicking on 'edit address' within the invoice, but in new invoicing, I need to edit the address by going into 'contacts', 'edit ', 'addresses', 'edit address', 'update address', 'save'. We have some updates planned for the contact card where you can enter details of your contact within new invoicing, and as part of this we'll be providing the ability to edit the Attention to field.

New Invoicing - Allow blank lines to make groups of invoice lines
It would be great to be able to group certain lines of an invoice together (for example by adding some spacing between groups), to make long invoices more readable and logically coherent.
It used to be possible to add spacing on the Classic invoicing page by pressing Enter a few times on the description field, but this no longer works on the New invoicing.

We're in the process of developing the edit view of the line item grid within new invoicing and will be incorporating the ability to manually add a row and the ability to move blank rows within the invoice. Once released blank lines will be able to be saved within the invoice so you can separate lines or groups of lines as you need. I'll keep you updated on when this goes live.

New Invoicing - Quick find Address
Having "quick find" on the billing address when entering a new contact through an invoice.

We have some improvements the team are focusing on within the contact card to provide our customers more efficiency, which includes the ability to search to add an address for a Contact.
For the time being we'll change this to working on it, and I'll keep you up to date with any progress for this, here.

New invoicing - View full list of inventory items
It is most annoying and time consuming to only be able to access half of the inventory items when raising an invoice. Instead one has to look up every item in the second half of the inventory, line by line before you can add it to an invoice. This is a step into the dark ages.

Atm our product team are doing some work to improve the line item grid and as part of this the item field will also see some improvement. Once the changes are released for the edit page you'll be able to view more items for each drop down option in the grid.

New Invoicing | Contact - Change default selection on tab from "add new"
Currently trying to use the new invoicing, but I'll start typing a contact name then tab across before seeing the contact pop up, since I use this contact daily. Under the old invoicing, it would just find the contact once I hit tab. Under the new invoicing, a new contact is created. And since the invoice is saved immediately, this new contact is also saved, so once I finish with the invoice, I then need to go and archive the contact that was created.
Can we change the defaults or something to fix this?

Currently our team are working on some improvements to the To field in new invoicing and the contacts card that appears when selecting a contact. We understand some of our customers make use of the keyboard much more than the mouse and in reviewing the flow when using Tab the team will be making a change to make selection of a contact and movement to the date field smoother. I'll come back to confirm the detail of the change when this is released.

New invoicing - Reduce size of text
URGENT!!!! The new invoicing is quiet frustrating. It doesn't remember past settings when emailing the invoices. So now I need to remember EVERYTIME I send an invoice to click 'send me a copy', which I know I'm going to forget especially if I'm in a rush.
ANNOYING!!!! There's an added step now to attach a pdf. I now need to click add files then drag the pdf, instead of simply dragging it and clicking to send with invoice or not.

Right now, as you may have seen in updates to some other ideas - our team are developing the line item grid where you enter detail of your invoices. This will encompass reduced padding and smaller pixels to condense details and help you see more information in one page without as much need to scroll which will help with the feedback you've shared here.

New Invoicing - Type the date manually, without / delimiters
It would be really useful to have a way of typing the date without having to use a / in between the numbers, like you could on classic invoicing
e.g. 20012024 used to convert automatically to 20th January 2024 on classic invoicing

Based on feedback our team are looking at improvements to the date pickers in new invoicing. While I can't confirm exactly what these will entail atm, we'll shift the idea to working on it and I'll be back to confirm when we have more of the detail.

New Invoicing - Reduce lag in items column and change pop up message location
Reduce the lag in items column when searching, it takes too long to search, sometimes up to 4secs! Please also change the location of the pop up message "default contacts have been applied", as when I start a new invoice the pop up message appears in the bottom left, but I'm trying to look at my contact info and enter items. The pop up box lingers too long and covers the information I need to read! This is frustrating every time when creating multiple invoices and I have to "x" the pop up message away each time, which then causes…

Part of the work the team are doing in this space should also address issues you've noted in the loading of items when you're invoicing.

New invoicing - Show full Tracking category
Despite some condensing of information and improvements to the appearance of new invoicing, it continues to display information with less clarity and efficiency than before. This is only one example but on classic invoicing, entering a tracking category that was too large for the field would cause the vertical height of that row to increase. Now new invoicing simply cuts off the field after a certain character limit.
This system is not ready for default deployment and you have no idea how bad the support storm is going to be on the 2nd of September. Please push back the default…

While we've released an updated line item grid when viewing a saved/approved invoice in new invoicing, this is still being worked on for the edit page. We know being able to see the full Tracking option and Account name is important to our customers and this is something that we're working on and will be coming soon. As we roll this out this'll mean those that have been trialing this for us will lose access for a short period of time, but I'll round back to confirm once it's been released to everyone in AU 😊Thanks!

Invoices - Change Column widths on invoice template
On the invoice template there is a lot of 'white space', particularly to the right of the Product Description, which frequently wraps to a second line. The Product Item code also wraps to a second line on occasions. The Quantity, Unit Price, Discount and VAT columns could be reduced in width to allow for the increase in Item and Description fields.
9 votesHi community, we're currently working on some improvements to the table/grid within new invoicing that'll provide better visibility of details.
While we won't be enabling customers the ability to adjust columns widths yourself, we're making changes that'll condense the view so you can see more at once, such as the full account name. We'll also be shifting some of the detail shown beneath the description into columns of their own for ease of view. I'll come back to share as there's more news.

New invoicing - Edit exchange rate
It is currently not possible to change the exchange rate used in the new invoicing screen, when invoicing in a foreign currency. You have to switch back to classic invoicing to correct it to the monthly rate we have entered in settings.

Invoice templates - Set defaults for show/hide fields
When creating/editing an invoice with the new style, you can select fields to show/hide. We would like to be able to change these and set the changes as default - at the moment you have to go in and select the ones you would like to see every time you are editing an invoice. The main one for us is the discount column - we would like to see this on every invoice. Having this functionality to show/hide is good, but just don't want to change this every time.

As you may have seen in other updates we're working on a new line item grid that will encompass a few enhancements we know our customers want to see, and will also include an improvement to the behaviour of the show/hide fields so the options you select will be retained. Invoicing | History - Show detail of action made
With the currect feature History and note report we are able to see which invoice for example has been edited - change name of invoice - reconciled etc. However we would like to have a more detailed view, for example if an invoice is booked in USD and someone will change the currency in EUR we are not able to see this change , we can see only that the invoice is edited by X person but we are not able to see the change. How can we have this feature?
24 votesHi everyone, while we still have more changes planned in this space I wanted to fill you in on the more recent changes in this space.
We have now added the ability to view the email an invoice was sent to in history, as well as adding timestamps for more insight into when an event was made.

Bills - Email to bills without requiring it to be an attachment
Often companies email invoices but they aren't a PDF - just an email.
So you have to print the email as a PDF - then send to Xero Bills.
