New Invoicing - History to include if invoice is resent
When an amendment is made and the invoice resent it needs to record who it has been sent to
384 votesHi everyone, we want to share that we've released a change to history for each time an invoice is sent.
Invoice history will now show the primary recipient email whenever an invoice is sent. This includes the initial and any subsequent send of an invoice.
We appreciate this has been a pain point for everyone that's joined in the idea here and hope this visibility improves your experience in invoicing.
We'd like to confirm how this works;
- This record is only applicable from here on in, there are no updates to any historical entries for sending.
- History will show the email of the initial recipient entered in the 'To' field any emails that you include as a CC or BCC option will not be shown.
We do want to highlight, that while the email will be recorded in majority of cases, there are a few scenarios our team have picked…

Invoicing - Make the History & Notes the same as in Classic Invoicing
Please leave the history of an invoice EXACTLY as it was in the classic invoicing.
The new invoicing doesn't show the invoice that it was copied from or copied to and this is very important as a trail.
I really don't understand why so many important features from the classic invoicing has been omitted.

let your customers continue using the classic invoicing as they like

We appreciate this is something we've heard a fair amount of feedback on and we hope helps in your journey to using new invoicing.

Invoicing - Add Payment details on invoice screen
When using the new style of invoicing, it is no longer possible to enter a customer payment which having to click on the receive payment option. Using classic invoicing, the fields to enter the payment are present on the invoice screen. The classic invoicing method is much more efficient when entering a large number of customer invoices, so it would be great if these fields could be added to the invoice screen on the new style.

As we mentioned in our last update, while we won’t be bringing classic invoicing back, we're taking a close look at what made it work so well for you. The ability to quickly enter payment information without leaving the invoice is a key part of that.
To address this, our product team is now working to reintroduce this functionality to the invoice page.
We can’t share a timeline just yet, but we want you to know that your comments have been a vital part of this process. We’ll be sure to post an update here as soon as we have more to share.🙂

Malaysia E-Invoicing - Two columns to show when validated versus viewed
Regarding the Invoice interface on the Sent Column, perhaps can Xero make it into two instead? One is for the Validated E-Invoicing & the other one is for customer. The reason is now, when we send to MyInvoice, every thing has become "viewed" instead. So now I don't know whether my customer did view or not.
I also suggest the MyInvoice under the Sent column, once the e-invoice validated, can it changed to "validated" instead of "viewed"? Like that we do not need to open another tab at the History and Notes to look up for it.

It'll highlight the e-invoicing status for each transactions, and show where data is missing, helping to generate, validate and submit consolidated e-invoices. I'll be back to confirm once this is live to you all. Thanks

New Invoicing - Move Save button to bottom of invoice like classic
Please move the SAVE for the New invoicing to the bottom as per old invoicing. When you have an invoice with 30-50 items and then have to scroll back up to save it adds to the pressure of getting things done.
Or Better still
Leave the old there until you've got it together and your Paid subscribers are happy.
We are seriously looking at moving away from XERO due to all the changes you impose on us without proper UAT. Bills - Add 'Upload bills' to Dashboard.
Add the 'Upload bills' feature as a widget on the Dashboard, for convenience.
At present you have to navigate to 'Bills to pay', then from the 'New bill' dropdown, select 'Upload bills'. It's a great time saving feature, but seems tucked away, and would be great if right from the dashboard I could just drop bills, and invoices, ready to process later.16 votesHi team, pleased to share that this is a feature that will be coming with the new Xero Homepage! New Invoicing | Contact - Change default selection on tab from "add new"
Currently trying to use the new invoicing, but I'll start typing a contact name then tab across before seeing the contact pop up, since I use this contact daily. Under the old invoicing, it would just find the contact once I hit tab. Under the new invoicing, a new contact is created. And since the invoice is saved immediately, this new contact is also saved, so once I finish with the invoice, I then need to go and archive the contact that was created.
Can we change the defaults or something to fix this?

Currently our team are working on some improvements to the To field in new invoicing and the contacts card that appears when selecting a contact. We understand some of our customers make use of the keyboard much more than the mouse and in reviewing the flow when using Tab the team will be making a change to make selection of a contact and movement to the date field smoother. I'll come back to confirm the detail of the change when this is released.

New Invoicing - Type the date manually, without / delimiters
It would be really useful to have a way of typing the date without having to use a / in between the numbers, like you could on classic invoicing
e.g. 20012024 used to convert automatically to 20th January 2024 on classic invoicing
41 votesThanks for your interest in this idea, everyone. We understand there are different ways our customers find useful when entering dates for invoices in Xero.
Based on feedback our team are looking at improvements to the date pickers in new invoicing. While I can't confirm exactly what these will entail atm, we'll shift the idea to working on it and I'll be back to confirm when we have more of the detail.

Invoicing - Sending Invoices by SMS

53 votesHi all, we wanted to share an update for our US customers that sending invoices via SMS is now available! We have just released this functionality and you can use the same Xero Central article as shared in the last update to understand the in's & out's of how this works. After this release we will be working on delivering this to the UK and NZ markets. As mentioned initially this is limited to the Stripe payment service but we will also be expanding this other payment services down the line.

Purchase orders - Expand Overview columns to fit the width of the page
Please change the table view on the Business --> Purchase Orders (Purchase Order Overview) to be the same as the Invoice Overview, which expands to fill the width of the page, as the current Purchases Overview is truncated and you cannot see pertinent purchase order details; like the PO name as an example.
7 votesGreat to have this feedback on the improvements that'll help you get the most out of using Xero especially purchase orders. As you might've seen in our news we're refreshing purchase orders in Xero and as part of this will be giving the overview screens an uplift too! 😊

Invoice templates - Set defaults for show/hide fields
When creating/editing an invoice with the new style, you can select fields to show/hide. We would like to be able to change these and set the changes as default - at the moment you have to go in and select the ones you would like to see every time you are editing an invoice. The main one for us is the discount column - we would like to see this on every invoice. Having this functionality to show/hide is good, but just don't want to change this every time.

As you may have seen in other updates we're working on a new line item grid that will encompass a few enhancements we know our customers want to see, and will also include an improvement to the behaviour of the show/hide fields so the options you select will be retained. Xero with Stripe: Support for Afterpay payments
Now that Stripe offers Afterpay, it would be helpful to add Afterpay to Xero's native Stripe integration.

Invoice/Bills: Notifications - Reminder Invoice/Bill becomes due
To have an option to set up e-mail notifications to receive a report when an invoice payable becomes due
Purpose: To easily be reminded when invoices/bills due through email.
222 votesThanks for your valuable feedback and for sharing the idea of "Bill payment reminder alerts or emails." It's clear this feature would be a significant improvement. As a current workaround, you can use the existing due date field in Xero to sort your bills and set a separate calendar reminder in your preferred app. While we work on assessing this idea, I want to share that we're exploring bill payment reminders for users with multiple initiatives in progress. We appreciate all your feedback and votes, as they help us better understand the impact and benefits of this feature, and we'll be sure to update this page with any new developments.

Xero to Xero - Send the attached files on the invoice
When sending invoices from Xero to Xero it doesn't attach the actual invoice in the draft bill as an attached so we don't have this invoice for record keeping purposes and can't even see if there's VAT or No VAT charged on the invoice as it is not attached to the bill. This needs to be added.
10 votesHi team, apologies as we have jumped the gun a little - While it's currently possible to include a PDF of the invoice when sending via the Xero network, including attached files is not available just yet.
However, I want to confirm this is something the team are currently working on and we will share as soon as there is another update on this.

Purchase Orders - Automatically Email when Approved
Once you approve the purchase order a pop up or a drop down on the approval button to be able to select 'approve and send' automatically, our organization doesn't require higher management approval to purchase, I enter and send immediately..
3 votesThanks for providing feedback on how we can improve purchase orders for you. As you may have seen from our blog we're currently working on a refreshed purchase orders experience that will be rolling out to customers over the coming months.
With the new experience we'll be wrapping in a few features that we know our customers have been wanting to see including the ability to Approve & email in one action like can be done with invoices today.

Invoicing | History - Show detail of action made
With the currect feature History and note report we are able to see which invoice for example has been edited - change name of invoice - reconciled etc. However we would like to have a more detailed view, for example if an invoice is booked in USD and someone will change the currency in EUR we are not able to see this change , we can see only that the invoice is edited by X person but we are not able to see the change. How can we have this feature?

As mentioned on that thread there are a couple of unique scenarios we are tidying up and I'll return to confirm once that is complete.

New invoicing - Ability to add Account Code within the invoice
It would be helpful and efficient to be able to make or add an account code straight from the "account code" dropdown in the bill/invoice/journal without needing to go to chart of accounts to make a new one. Currently, users still need to go to the chart and then go back to the bill/invoice/journal but since this refreshes the page, it erases all the data already filled up in the invoice.

Purchase Orders - Remove Deleted PO's from Purchases All list
PO's and Quotes that have been Deleted are marked as Deleted but continue to be displayed in the Sales and Purchases Overviews. There is no need to continue to display deleted items in the Overviews. They should be removed.
10 votesHi team, as you may have just heard through my other update here. We have now split this idea into 2 so that we can track and keep customers updated on any progress for this feature being developed in each area respectively.
I am please to be able to share for Purchase Orders we're in the works of refreshing the purchase order list and add/edit screens and as part of this we will be providing more filters for the search on the lists so you will be able to select to show/hide deleted PO's 🙂

This would give me more flexibility to see all the data in one place without having to scroll down to see all our accounts.
33 votesHi all, we appreciate feedback we've received about improvements we could make to the Dashboard that'd better serve your needs. You may've heard that we have a new Homepage that'll replace the Dashboard and will be released to all customers over the next few months.
With updated technology the new Homepage is much more responsive and will adapt based on your device, screen size and zoom functions to show a maximum of 4 widgets side-by-side. 😊
I'll keep you looped in on when this is available to everyone, but in the meantime if you'd like to try it out jump into the demo company!
