  1. Please offer phone support. You still continue to have many people being frustrated at the lack of phone support you provide. As paying customers and given the substantial fees you charge customers should be able to ring you when they need to. Often the online responses we get from your customer services people are too complex for them or their English is not good enough to be able to understand the issues.

Hi everyone, while we don't have an inbound number you can call, we do call when it helps.

You can raise a case with our team of specialists at Xero Support. With a range of different features this means we can quickly get your question to some one with the right skills to help. If you feel a call is needed let the team know when you're sharing detail, our specialists are generally happy to arrange this with you and can schedule a call at a time that suits you best.

We find that most questions can be answered with help that is already available on Xero Central. Having a written case with our support team means they can share resources and you can look back on this information at anytime through your My cases if you need to refer to it at another time.

  2. On the PDF invoices, Xero automatically CAPITALIZES the entire town/city name, even in my custom invoicing template. It looks unprofessional and I want it to go away. I've avoided this by typing all new addresses on the first line, but I have imported hundreds of contacts into Xero and I don't want to go in and change every single one of them.

Hi all, in Xero City, State and Country fields appear in capital letters when using a standard invoice template. This is because the US Postal Service (USPS) recommends these fields are in all caps.

Currently you could use an advanced invoice template and replace the merge field <<ContactPostalAddress>> with some or all of the following merge fields to change the way this appears:

    • ContactPostalAddressLines
    • ContactPostalRegion
    • ContactPostalCity
    • ContactPostalCountry
    • ContactPostalPostCode
    • ContactPostalAttentionTo
  3. In the old invoicing you can preview the invoice without downloading a PDF. I would like to view them again in the new invoicing without having to download a PDF.

  4. Can you make the VAT amendable on the new invoicing system. We link with the Clover till system and the vat is always a few pence out, but the new invoicing doesn't allow us to change the vat amount.

Hi Lindsey, you should find that you can add a Tax Amount column within new invoicing which will allow you to change the tax amount of the individual lines so you can correct the cents between your other system and Xero.

  5. Despite some condensing of information and improvements to the appearance of new invoicing, it continues to display information with less clarity and efficiency than before. This is only one example but on classic invoicing, entering a tracking category that was too large for the field would cause the vertical height of that row to increase. Now new invoicing simply cuts off the field after a certain character limit.

This system is not ready for default deployment and you have no idea how bad the support storm is going to be on the 2nd of September. Please push back the default…

Hi everyone, our new line item grid has been released, and you'll find with this update along with other changes, that all fields now wrap. So if you have an account, tax rate or code that is a little longer you'll be able to see the full name of this when invoicing. We appreciate all your feedback on improving new invoicing to suit your needs here. Thanks

  6. I am a refuge from QuickBooks (after decades of use). I switched to Xero because of the ever-increasing costs of QuickBooks since they switched to a subscription model.

I have to have two Xero subscriptions -- one for my (very) small business and one for my home bookkeeping. (With QuickBooks, I could manage both with a single account.) At the Early level, that's $15 per month apiece, $30 a month for both, or $360 a year in all. That's less than QuickBooks, but it's a lot for my modest needs.

Now with the added "cash coding" feature -- which I…

Appreciate you sharing your feedback on this and thoughts int he community here. Currently, Xero offers a discount when you subscribe to more than one small business pricing plan. The one thing you'll need to ensure is that each organisation is subscribed to the same email address - We have more information on Xero Central, and you can connect with our specialists through the Contact Xero Support option at the bottom of the page if you'd like to discuss your subscriptions further.

  7. Would it be possible to amend Xero settings, so that if you run a balance sheet to the end of February, the comparatives are also run to the end of previous month?

In February, my current month balance sheet is run to 28 February (Xero's choice) and Xero decides that means I also want to see the comparatives run to 28 January as a default setting.

As many month-end journals are posted to, say, 31 January, the balance doesn't include them.

This is very misleading: in any other month, the comparatives are run to the end of the month.

    It's…

Sorry Karen, not quite sure what's going on with your report there but I'd recommend coming into our specialists at Xero Support to have a closer look at your report settings.

Running for the full period of the month is the default so it should pick up all days for the month comparatives you're running the report for.

I've attached a test from the demo org - Setting the Date to 28 Feb, with compare for 2 months the report shows me the full months with columns for 31 Jan and 31 Dec.

Hey community, 👋 thanks for your support on this idea, I'm popping in to switch it across to delivered!

Simply click on the figure in the YTD column on the chart of accounts screen and it opens a detail page with the file upload button on it.

Thanks again for your feedback. It helps us to continue shaping the future of reports here at Xero.

  9. any way to assign properties to Customers?

example - we hire 10ft, 20ft and 40ft containers, so for every customer I tick their appropriate container.

this way if i need a report on all customers who have a 20ft container, job is easy and fast

In Sap B1 this is available as per pic attached

  10. Xero has a guide to pro forma invoices but nowhere in help is explaining how to do this in Xero. https://www.xero.com/uk/guides/what-is-a-proforma-invoice/

I suggest you create a help page advising users to use Quotes (or possibly drafts) with a custom layout to solve this issue.

  11. Dear support team,

I use Zero mostly to run payments and upload them in the bank system. I am trying to make my work easier as currently Zero has very limited features and I have to do a lot of work manually. I need to be able to download payments files from Zero in CSV or XML format and then automatically upload them in bulk in our bank system. The upload must be done in the right bank account and show our account number, the beneficiary, the amount of payment, currency, value date, status of the payment file and, most…

  12. Contacts due dates to be set as a standard company wide setting unless changed within the individual contact.

For example as a company we work on the basis that all payments and receipts are due 30 days from invoice, this should be able to be entered within the company settings and should already be filled in when creating a new contact.

Hi Marcel, with the standard invoice template this will show the billing address on the PDF of the invoice. If you don't have a physical address for the contact and want to include the email address, enter and save this in the billing address details on the contact. You can either do this from their contact record or on the fly when creating the invoice. here's an example I created of how this will appear.

  14. Discovered an error. In the customer settings, when placing 0 in the field for “Days invoice when due” shows an error, despite Xero using 0 when calculating when an invoice is due.

Hi everyone, we've now introduced the ability to export your items list from the Products & Services page based on the filter you've applied. You can now export only your active items, or all items, making it easier to manage your inventory.

We're also working on adding an extra column for 'Status' in the CSV export along with 'Inventory type'. This will be coming in as a later release. We'll post an update in this thread when that's out as well  🙂

  17. Codes are set up as ***-yy which isn't logical to type. I guess it's an accounting convention but I can type 501.50 much easier (one hand on the numeric keypad and no need to move it to the'-') than 501-50.

For non-accountants, and IT people 501.50 is the logical way to type and enter these codes.

  18. Provide a FULL list of ALL reports!

There are SOOOO many reports out there that I am not aware of, as they are all hidden! Unless you know the exact name of the report they are useless to search. I have just spent a wasted few days between facebook and support trying to pull a report similar to Supplier Statement. I did a search and of course there is nothing called that. I eventually contacted support to find out how I could get a Supplier Statement and was told to use a "Supplier Bill Activity". I would never have guessed…

Totally get the keywords our customers look for or search and the names of Xero's reports may not always match. We've making use of generative AI and have released this to search within the Xero help menu - Where possible Xero will auto generate a response based on your search, and otherwise you'll see the most relevant content from Xero Central.

Taking the example in the idea here, when searching 'supplier statement' the first relevant result helps a user understand what reports will help them get an understanding of supplier activity in Xero.

In terms of listing reports in the reports centre - Some of Xero's reports such as the Supplier Bill Activity are a drill down report. While it won't be listed on the reports centre as a default, you can click the 3 dot menu next to the Contact Transactions - Summary report to view sub reports. If…

  19. Hi, there is a critical bug while doing reconciliation that make the app unusable. When trying to link a transfer made in a currency with an invoice made in another currency. The reconciliation doesn't show an error even though the recieved money is incorrect and doesn't match the invoice amount.

Hi Aym, I understand you've also recently connected with our specialists at Xero Support on this.

To share for others on the idea here, in this scenario if the statement line is a partial payment you can use the 'Split' option in bank reconciliation to enter the currency value the amount equates to.

At the bottom of the page you'll see a message highlighting where the calculated exchange rate is significantly different to the defined currency rate for the day.

  20. On Classic, we could attach supplier & subcontractor invoices to our invoice when we sent it to clients. We haven't been able to do this since moving to the new invoices. We've reached out to Xero regarding this and the help we have been given has been generic and not at all related to the problem we've sent screenshots about. Very disappointing. What happened to a member of the team accessing our setup in a meeting (??Teams or Zoom etc) and working through the problem with us. That used to happen in the past but that personal touch that made…

Hi Glen, sorry to hear you've not had the best experience recently when seeking help. Generally our team are happy to arrange a call if requested and do offer screen meets to troubleshoot issues.

We know some customers were finding the upload files option a little tricky in new invoicing and recently we released a enhancement that now allows you to drag & drop files anywhere on the screen (rather than directly onto the Files attachment window). I believe this should resolve the issue you've noted, and would recommend giving it a try but please do respond to my update if you're still having any difficulty with this.
