Hi team, this report has been split out from a previous one that requested the addition of both payroll and tracking summary reports to Report Templates. It's unlikely both these reports would be added at once, and it's good to track the interest in each.

While we have just released a new Tracking Summary report in Xero this isn't something that's been added to Report Templates just yet, if there are any plans for this we'll let you know here. Thanks

Hi Samantha, thanks for sharing this excellent suggestion for improving data integrity in Xero Tax. Preventing duplicate client records is incredibly important for practice management.

We've reviewed your idea to have the duplicate TFN warning also check against archived clients when creating a new record. Your suggestion is now ready to gain support and feedback from other members of the community.

Along with votes, other tax professionals can now share their experiences and comment on how this enhanced warning would help ensure clean client data within their practice.

  3. The NZ tax rate for a trust's income tax has changed in the 2025 tax year from 33% to 39% when the taxable income in the trust is $10,000 or more.
At present we are not able to have a different formula in comparatives to the formula in current year, so a modification to the If( . . ) statement in the current annual accounts tax note cannot be made that would work for 2025 and comparatives.

At the moment the only solution available per Xero Support is a custom line, with accounting staff manually entering the tax payable amount…

Thanks for raising the idea with us here, community.

Currently, there's no functionality in Xero to have a single row have two different formulas for each column, or have two columns appear when grouped. (Example, the 2024 column cannot be calculated with 33% tax if the formula for the row is calculated with 39%)

Right now as Paul's noted 🙏, we'd recommend using a 'Custom' row in the Notes report and have the row heading be similar to 'Tax Payable (33% 2024, 39% 2025)'.

In doing so, you'll then be able to manually input the figures into this section of the notes report after you click 'Update layout'.

We don't have any immediate plans for developing this capability, but I want to assure you interest for this has been shared with our product team and we'll update you if there's any news.

  4. Would be good to have an "Allocate" command button so income, deductions, tax credits are split automatically as per the percentage for each individual in a trust, partnership and LTC company. It is time consuming when there are multiple individuals and varying percentage splits.

  5. Currently the productivity pie chart on the home page only reports on a weekly basis. It would be great if the home page can add a 2nd productivity pie chart which is set to report on a monthly basis. Most accounting firms/staff have monthly productivity targets, so this is why it would be a wonderful way to track MTD productivity results instead of only weekly.

  6. Currently in Xero Tax, non-depreciable assets entered into the rental schedule do not roll forward into future income tax returns (ITRs), creating unnecessary manual data entry and inconsistency.

Suggested improvement: Add support to roll forward non-depreciable assets (such as land) within the rental schedule when generating the next year’s return to maintain asset continuity and save time.

  7. I think to reduce the risk of associated companies not being included in the CT600 in error box 326 should be left blank by Xero but compulsory so that that the return can not be generated without it.

The same warning you get if trying to complete without boxes 975.

  8. I had a validation error CMN.ATO.DISTBENTRT.000013 generated in an SMSF tax return.
When I clicked on the validation error it took me to a specific trust income schedule (number 10 of 18), which had several fields highlighted. The error says that there must be a number in any of the fields A B D U and so on - this schedule met this condition.
After much wasted time trying to re-enter fields, checking there were no blank spaces, deleting and re-entering all fields, deleting and re-entering the whole schedule, I contacted support.
It turns out the error was actually generated…

  9. It would be good if we could update client info changes such as change of address or bank account changes directly in Xero that would then update on the ATO Portal. Having used this in another accounting package, it is an extremely efficient process that make sure the client info is updated at both sites. Making these changes directly through the ATO portal gives no (or very little) audit trail.

Hi Jo, thanks for sharing this great idea for improving practice efficiency. We understand how valuable a better audit trail and a more streamlined process would be for keeping client details up-to-date.

We've reviewed your suggestion to have client information updated in XPM, such as addresses or bank details, sync directly with the ATO Portal. This idea is now ready to gain support from other community members.

  10. When filing an SA100, allow us to change the Personal allowance of the client to match their actual tax code, so the return can be filed correctly. Currently on the generic tax code is catered for, and this doesn’t account for people who have different tax codes.

  11. Ability to run an Aged Debtors Report of what debts clients owed us at a certain date in XPM. For example, we want to see what our clients owed us at 30/06/25, however the Standard Report (Aged Balance Report) can't be run to a certain date and if we create our own Report in Report Builder it removes clients from the report if they have paid since 01/07/25 and now owe nothing. We need these figures to do clients Financials and also for our own Practice reporting. We can run it in Xero Blue however we don't have the ability…

  12. When the transaction is reconciled to a Bill that's been uploaded from HubDoc in Xero, it should mark the document as Paid in HubDoc. (Google's AI-generated answer says that this happens, but it doesn't on my account). That way it would be much easier to see in HubDoc which items still aren't reconciled

    Specifically, if a document is
    1) published as "Purchased, Awaiting Payment", and published to Xero
    2) that bill is then reconciled to a transaction in Xero, so that bill is shown as Paid and linked to Hubdoc
    3) then when viewing the document in Hubdoc, "Mark as…

Hi Mark, thanks for this excellent and clearly detailed suggestion.

We understand the workflow you're proposing: when a bill from Hubdoc is reconciled in Xero, its status should automatically sync back and be marked as 'Paid' in Hubdoc.

We're grateful for your engagement and for letting us know the changes that matter to you.

  13. AU TAX - Default EFT account type to CLIENT

Under Cover > Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) > Account type there are 3 options - Manual, Client, and Agent.

It would be helpful if there was a setting in Client Settings > Client Types to default the EFT Account type, so we don't have to manually change this on every return.

  16. On the old Xero HQ staff page, you could click on the staff member, add clients, and then filter to client groups.

With the new Xero HQ Staff page layout, this ability has been lost and it's vital for adding clients in bulk to particular office groups, particularly for our new starters.

Hi Doina, as mentioned in my recent update here. I've split your idea into two, so we can gain understanding of the support in each separately.

It'll be good to get a gauge of community interest for a Detailed Profit & Loss in the Statutory accounts for Micro Entities within Xero Tax(UK), through this idea.

This isn't something we have road mapped atm, but we'll share if there are any updates.

  18. Allow a Column on your main page of transactions for mileage so you can add the mileage to the column for sales to be calculated

I am a private hire driver and this I believe will benefit taxis and private hire drivers or people who do a lot of driving as a business.

Can they not add another column on this page that we can add the mileage for each job that can then be calculated at the end of year as you do with what fairs come in or sales coming.

Again, this would benefit greatly for small businesses…

  19. It would be important to be able to edit the payment option available for a specific contact. Example: I have an international client that I would prefer if they did not get the option to pay their invoices with credit card. That would be useful to edit this within their contact settings so I don't have to manually change each of their invoices.

We've reviewed your suggestion to be able to set specific payment options within a contact's settings, and it's now open to gain support from other community members.
