Xero Tax (UK) - Make available to businesses, not only to Partners
Ability to have Xero Tax for businesses, not only for Partners
Hi community, we appreciate the continued attention this idea is receiving. While our team will continue to review this idea, Xero Tax remains a Partner only product with tools and capabilities that help Xero Partners serve their clients with ease, and we don't have immediate intentions of changing this. Again, we'd like to encourage that if you're not currently connected to a Xero Partner you can find one that can serve your advisor needs through our Advisor Directory. If there is any change planned we will update you of this, here.
Also to note, our current position on Xero Tax does not relate to our MTD IT program and we'll be providing further information for this separately on this idea. Thanks

There must be lots of Accountants needing access to Xero Tax but because they don't have enough Xero clients they cant become Partners. I cant understand why this cant be an add on to book keeping if required?

I'm a very small business paying a monthly fee to an accountant and a monthly fee to Xero. I'd like to save some money and cut out the accountant and submit the end of year accounts myself. Any suggestions on an alternative software?

I quite like TaxCalc, pay for what you need and it integrates with Xero. Their simple view of returns and explanations on how to fill out each section are helpful too.

Hi,
Is there any software you recommend for me to use to file our statutory accounts for HMRC? Cant believe XERO does not allow you to do this function.

With Xero’s response making it very clear the strategy is to have users pay their Partners for a service that could be done without cost, for one of the firms I work with (using Xero), I went to market and found some great final accounts and tax software - that then led on to whole accounts package suites - Xero is losing its competitive edge unfortunately, so this will be looked at. Such a shame Xero sees this as they do.

I have been happily using Xero for several years, but now out turnover has passed £632,000 we can't file our Corporation Tax Return.
Xero Tax is not available to us because we are not an accountanct firm.
As of Monday we will be looking for an alternative accounting software to migrate to at the end of this financial year.
Really disappointed.
When you have software that can do exactly what we want why can't we get access to it as businesses? -

Hi,
This program needs to be updated, Xero is losing additional revenue by not allowing qualified accountants to take advantage of additional features! Xero Tax options should be offered for all businesses who are ready to pay the extra money and fully control our companies on their own, as well as take full responsibility for this!
If you want something done right you have to do it yourself!! ;-) -

It's shame to lose a basic requirement for small businesses

I am a chartered accountant working in industry and I think it's ridiculous that you are unable to use Xero Tax to file your accounts and tax return. I also use Freeagent which has this capability so why not Xero?
An explanation from Xero would be nice.

this is a very basic tool that Xero should supply free

does any one know of a system that doesn't require you go to an accountant????

We are a small business and do not need the services of a 3rd party. Having the ability to submit our own Tax would be hugely beneficial.

It would be brilliant if Xero could calculate monthly provision for corporation tax without using third party (who often charging very high fees) especially if our organisation already employs financial accountant who does it all manually at the moment

As a small Business we want to control our Accounts without the expense of using a 3rd Party

Given the monthly cost, having the ability to see and review your corporation tax liability is simply an addition that should be made.
Other free services such as FreeAgent do this, and whilst perhaps not as user friendly, I see no reason why you would pay a subscription and not have this facility to at least display the liability when running such reports as profit & loss.
Xero are missing a trick here and damaging relationships and kudos.

This was definitely the turning point that lost a migration of a group company to Xero because the inability to do these returns. They went to the competition, although not as user friendly, they able to do their returns without the need of having to pay extra for a Partner to give them access. The Companies have qualified accountants that are able to do these returns. Why allow the VAT return to HMRC but no allow corporate returns? Big loss for Xero as competing software are right there ready to accept what Xero lacks.

I had not realised I would still have to pay an accountant to do year end statutory accounts and the corporation tax return, which makes this a very expensive product so unless Xero are going to change their stance in the very near future I too will be moving away from it.

+1 on Michael Hoy's comment. Yes, accountants need to have tools, but I don't need/want an accountant for this business I can do it all myself but I can't generate any of the documentation I need for year-end accounts filing, but I can for VAT. Seems rather arbitrary. Additionally, it feels like they are propping up an industry that the market doesn't want to use. But if Xero makes its money from accountants not SMEs directly it makes sense why this isn't enabled.
