    Hi Geena, thanks for this great suggestion for Xero Practice Manager.

    We can definitely see how having both the Client Manager and Job Manager visible on the main recurring jobs screen would make it much easier to see who is responsible for what at a glance. Adding an export option for that screen is also a great point.

  2. It would be a good to have a full list of naming conventions so you can import client job etc data in bulk, without having to "guess" the title name.

  3. Joint bank accounts need to be listed in the financial institution details of both parties in XPM. It would be great to have them linked so only one client needs to be updated and the changes flow to the other client, and into the tax returns for both

  4. The productivity dashboard does not have the functionality to automatically account for staff start dates. It calculates capacity for the whole year which does not work for staff commencing mid year. There's no functionality to set a historic capacity level. The workaround is to manually adjust the reporting date for the productivity dashboard to account for each staff's start date or use the Time Productivity Report as an alternative. I'd love to see this feature improvement / functionality in the future.

    We've reviewed your idea about setting historic capacity levels, and it’s now open to gain support from the wider community.

  5. The job budget is a key piece of information for all staff to have visibility. However the Budget field on a job is only visible if staff have Access Financial Data permissions. Giving Access Financial Data permissions allows staff to view and edit client billing details, edit practice subscription and export subscription. Surely, such wide ranging powers is not appropriate for ALL staff.

    Surely this permission should fall under the "Manage Jobs" permission matrix not under Finances permission matrix.

  6. Currently you cannot edit the DOB in a client record in XPM for individual clients you can only edit if you export the database and re import it. For GDPR reasons it is important that we can delete DOB when a client leaves the practice. Please make this field so it can be deleted if required

    Hi Katrina, we appreciate the desire for being able to easily update your client data without the need to export. I'm pleased to share that this'll soon be enabled with the Xero Partner Hub which will incorporate this and many other improvements we know our partners have been asking.

  7. To have a function that essentially works as a sticky note on the details page of the clients file. Although there is the notes function, it it easily lost within the multiple tabs, however if something was right there on the home screen for all to see it isn't as easily missed/ignored. It could be something simple like a staff member has been trying to get in touch with the client, or bringing attention to an address change, noting the preferred method for documents to be signed etc.

    Hi community, we’ve created this idea based on feedback we’ve heard, to help improve your workflow in Xero Practice Manager.

    The suggestion is to add a safeguard that prevents jobs from being closed when they’re still linked to an active tax return. We believe this would help reduce errors and support smoother compliance processes.

  9. It would be great if there was some automatic notification to the client/job manager that a draft invoice has been raised and is awaiting approval.

    Probably just one email per day so they are not being spammed!

  10. When invoicing in XPM and choosing the task postings options Yes/No/Future, can you add a column for the cost (not just time and rate) so we can judge what to invoice and how much for.

    Hi Emily, thanks for sharing this fantastic suggestion for improving the invoicing workflow in XPM. We can see how having more direct visibility of costs would make billing decisions much easier.

    We've reviewed your idea to add a calculated 'Cost' column on the screen when reviewing task postings to be invoiced. We understand this would help you better judge what to invoice and how much for at a glance.

  11. When running reports, posting timesheets etc, it would be good for the client search function to search the entire name, rather than requiring exact input. Similarly, the ability to type a date in any format (e.g. DD/MM/YY), rather than being exact or using the calendar icon.

  12. Would it be possible to close sections of the job that you don't use and these stay as default. (Information Tax - job details, custom fields etc.) This would make it easier to see the sections you do use. It would also be useful if you would put them in the order you prefer.

    For example to me the most important section is tasks and these are quite low down the list. I would like this to be a default setting.

  13. It would be great to see the budgets easily when we open the Jobs tab in XPM. This will help us have a quick glance at the budget for each job rather than opening each job in a new browser tab or generate a report.

  15. When preparing an invoice, it would be great if you could replace the radio buttons with check boxes within tasks and also be able to bulk update the Billable status on timesheet entries within a task to Yes, No or Future.
    If you have a task with a lot of timesheet entries, and you only want to bill a few of them, it's very time consuming to have to select one by one to change the Billable status to Future.

  16. It would be ideal to have the ability to remove yourself from a practice in XPM. For example, if you are consulting to a firm and they aren't maintaining their staff list and removing access promptly when the contract is complete, you would be able to have more control over the security of a file and keeping your list of practices clean by being able to remove yourself from their practice.

Given Xero's push for 'beautiful accounting' I find it very frustrating that the template report codes can't be re-ordered within their groups in the template reports and always revert to alphabetical at the client level, meaning every single client needs their custom reports formatting unnecessarily. Editing reports at every single client level for what I consider to be pretty basic formatting is really disappointing.

    The practice level report template should allow for report codes to be reordered within their groups. I don't want rent, rates and utility costs to be at the bottom of the establishment costs section because they…

    Hey Gareth, we appreciate you sharing this idea and highlighting the extra time spent manually reordering report codes in clients’ organisations. It’s clear that a better solution would help your practice run more smoothly.

    Right now, the only option is to reorder the codes manually within each client’s report. We know this isn’t the best solution and adds extra steps to your workflow.

    This idea is currently in the Gaining Support stage, so it’s open for votes and comments from the community. The feedback will help us understand how many people this would benefit and how important it is to your practice. We’ll keep you posted here as soon as there’s any news.

  20. It would be great if we could have the option of a display name as legal name for all entity types and not just individuals to help differentiate different entities with the same name. For example, we have a few trusts that share the same name but are completely separate entities belonging to different client groups and it can make it hard to tell those apart at a glance.
