Appreciate the idea here - Being transparent, developing granular permissions or roles for every feature and action throughout Xero is not in our plans.
Understanding more of the permission sets majority of users need, will help understand where the biggest impact could be made.
I've slightly adjusted the title to suit the needs of the role you mentioned. We'll get a sense of others that'd like this too.

Hi community, thank you for your engagement and sharing how you'd like us to evolve roles for customers using Xero. User roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs - As you can see there is a large range of ideas for different roles shared by customers in Product Ideas.
We’re conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. To be upfront, the discovery of this work will be long running and there'll be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We’d like to invite you, our community to be part of this research and discovery. This may involve interviews and sharing further feedback through direct…Sharon Bramley supported this idea · -

Hi everyone, as another step toward improving history of new invoicing you'll find you'll now see an entry when an invoice is sent, and the email address it has been sent to.
We appreciate this is something we've heard a fair amount of feedback on and we hope helps in your journey to using new invoicing.
We still have more enhancements on the way for history and I'll be back again when more updates land.

Thanks for staying connected with us here in product ideas, team. As many will have noticed, our new Fixed Assets experience has been released to most users now. I'm happy to share that development for attaching a file to Fixed Assets in this new experience is moving along. We're hoping to have this delivered to everyone over the coming weeks, and I'll share more detail once it's here in where and how you can atta h a file to an asset 🙂
As this feature is limited to the new experience, if you have an AU business that uses pooling and is still working with the older version of Fixed Assets this feature won't be available until we move you across to the new experience.

Hi everyone, thanks for the interest in this idea.
As you can appreciate, user roles span across the entire Xero product so there’s many combinations of permissions our customers want to see us build. Specifically, our reporting product team is very much aware of the challenges with the current permission sets relating to sharing individual reports with different users and are beginning to look into how we might be able to alleviate some of these reporting challenges.
However, at this stage it’s far too early to anticipate or confirm any direction on where this discovery work will lead, but it will inform our next steps. Additionally, as I'm sure you can appreciate there are sensitivities of data access and security. Creating upgrades to user permissions will need very careful consideration. As most will be across, the reporting team are leading up to retiring older versions of Xero’s reports on 31…

Xero looks at these, and takes the ideas that have the most votes to see if something can be done, so the more votes we get, the better.
I think as businesses are growing, it has become a problem with internal security that Xero hadn't even thought about, so every time some one votes or messages on here, I get notified, and I am sending it to my account manager.
Just to make sure they are aware of it - trying to be as 'in their face' as possible. An error occurred while saving the comment Sharon Bramley commentedPleeeeease Xero - can you do something about this. I am starting to lose clients to MYOB because they have a better user security system. Thats the only reason they are changing. There needs to be the facility to tick a box for payables or receivables reports within the managed user category.
They need access without seeing all the management and financial reports. An error occurred while saving the comment Sharon Bramley commentedIt is important that the accounts clerk cannot see the Financial reports. They currently have access to all business expenses, including the Directors Salaries, and the details of other staff members salaries, by just drilling down into the transactions.
This information MUST be protected and secured from minor staff. There needs to be a set up with password, or a category between Invoice and accountant/manager please.Sharon Bramley supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Sharon Bramley commentedThis issue was raised in 2017 so please can we all keep ticking the security box so that we get one huge vote for this.
They only look at the items with the most votes, so please search for a suggestion rather than starting another one. thanksSharon Bramley supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Sharon Bramley commentedHey William - I set them up as a bill payable. Hope that helps.
HI Everyone, I have been in touch with Xero admin today, and they advise that this is a feature that they WILL NOT be looking at, anytime soon, nor in the future. So if we want user security, we will need to change to another accounting package. Xero was only ever developed for small family or one man band businesses, and is not capable of changing or growing to meet business growth requirements. This is really disappointing, I submitted this discussion 7 years ago, and they still refuse to look at a solution.
