Great to hear you're making use of Smart document capture, Sarah. Can see how adding inventory to this experience would be useful for many businesses. I've made sure to share this back with our team and they are keeping a watchful eye on the ideas we have coming through the forums here.
I'll share if there are any updates and in the meantime I'd recommend sharing the idea with any other colleagues that'd like to see this so they can vote, too.
In terms of the status of the transaction, it's best that we track this separately. We have an existing idea for being able to save transactions as approved that I've added your vote for, and you're welcome to add another if you'd like an option to auto set documents to Awaiting approval. 🙂

Thanks for raising this with us, this was great Feedback. We are continually enhancing Xero and specifically the new Smart Doc Capture feature, so its great to hear what our customers want to see. The option for a search function in Files is something that our Product team is currently developing and we will round back to this idea and update you when this is is released.

💥 Thanks for sharing this idea, Fran we can see how being able to select inventory items while creating a transaction in Smart Document Capture would help reduce double-handling and save time.

I think this goes hand in hand with the problem of not being able to approve a bill when creating a transaction. It would be better to be able to either deal with the bill on the first screen ie use item codes for inventory and approve it or have the option to skip this new step altogether. The time saved by having some details pre-populated is totally lost by having to go elsewhere to finalise the bill. Not to mention the requirement to upgrade to extract line items - if I did that would I still have to go to drafts and edit to use item codes?

Sorry to hear you're not liking the refresh of the Files inbox, Felicity. The intention is to make managing and working with your files simpler and more efficient.
Just to confirm, when you say this has added extra clicks for you - would that be the need to go to the Archived tab to access a fioder you've moved a file to?

Previously, the inbox acted as a clear, actionable list of files needing attention - making workflow straightforward. Now, with the beta, you have to move files to categorised archives to have any chance of finding them again. But these archive files become harder to use the more you add. All this adds extra steps and makes it harder to keep track of which files are current or need action. One example of this when handling monthly statements from suppliers, which just need to be uploaded from library to their file tab, not attached to a transaction. This used to be easy - select from whatever is still in the inbox. Now selection has to be made from archive - the files beta means more manual organisation and more trawling through files. I don't want to archive something I haven't dealt with before I can deal with it, and have it disappear into everything I have ever dropped into Xero over the last 11years :(

Thanks for sharing this idea, Jill ✨and for letting us know that defaulting the “Add from library” view to the Files Inbox when attaching a file from a contact could make it quicker to find documents that still need action, rather than starting in Archive. This is now open to others that may find this useful, to vote and share examples of how it would help, so we can understand the broader need. We’ll continue to monitor the feedback and support for this idea and update the thread if there’s progress to share.

Hi everyone, a year on from my last engagement we wanted to provide an update for you all here.
As many will be across we're in the midst of making a lot of iterations and improvements to new invoicing leading up to the retirement of classic invoicing in September (2024).
We have a fair amount of work lined up in the teams schedule over the coming months and to give an indication there isn't any committed plans around a function to add interest to invoices.
That said, we do have a team that have picked up and are considering how we might solve this with the technology in new invoicing - It's early days on this yet, but I'll share if there's any progress on this for you all here.
In the meantime, as has been shared by others over time there are a few ways you could accomplish this…

Hi community, we appreciate the on-going interest this idea is receiving and the growing needs in the ability to customise documents that you send from Xero.
Right now, our position for this idea remains the same - we do have future plans to improve the branding experience across Xero, starting with invoicing which you can read more about.
As this experience continues to build out we'll make sure to share any updates for customising Remittance for everyone here.
