Hi community, we acknowledge the strong feelings in this idea and why you need a feature to flag bills directly within Xero. We really appreciate all your feedback and the detailed explanations of how this would help streamline your accounts payable.
We are dedicated to providing a solution for this over the longer term, but this will take some time requiring changes that sit beneath the face of bills.
In lieu of a direct feature for this we wanted to highlight some of the options discussed by the community here:
- Add a note to the bill: A detailed note on the bill itself can serve as a clear internal reminder of the dispute.
- Utilise tracking categories: Creating a specific tracking category like "Disputed Bills" can help you filter and report on these items.
- Adjust the due date: Temporarily extending the due date can prevent accidental payment while the dispute is…

Just received price increase notification.... Really Xero?
Will & Lorna - I had used Sage for over 10 years before this and would say it's a far superior product and is also cheaper (even before the latest price hike).
I'm currently looking into moving our 70+ project companies over to SageAn error occurred while saving the comment

I'm wondering if Xero now has a "clearer understanding" of this.
Looks pretty clear to me. You have 326 votes on the old thread and 471 on the current saying that this is a highly required feature.I have added a comment on LinkedIn in hope that it might attract some positive traction.

Hi Jim,
Thanks but no - thanks!
This is a basic functionality and should not require a 3rd party add-in.An error occurred while saving the comment

Here's a Linked in group - perhaps taking this to the social media will help Xero to reconsider.

Xero is actively posting about how great and wonderful they are - which is just an insult to the user community. An error occurred while saving the comment

Outraged! I have to agree with Claire and the other contributors. What is the point of this communication? You have effectively just reset the counter on a function request that has been around for years and as soon as we have managed to drum up some support - you have killed it.
This really is no rocket science - literally every other accounting software has this function and it is an important function to have.
We have a team of around 20 bookkeepers and Finance managers which provides financial management services to around 80 entities. Without the ability to flag bills we run a risk of paying bills which are in dispute. Having these not recorded or keep them as drafts is not an option as this does not provide a true and fair view of the company's financial position.

Debbie,
Thanks for your comment - it certainly is a really good workaround in my opinion.
What frustrates me is the fact that we have to look for a workaround for something this basic. An error occurred while saving the comment

The lack of action from Xero is very concerning.

Hi everyone, we appreciate all the feedback and votes on this idea. We know using Microsoft Entra ID SSO is now common practice for some businesses and being able to access Xero via a native integration with Entra ID would streamline how your teams log in and get set up in Xero, as well as help in managing access for larger teams and keeping things secure.
Our product team have been working with a small limited group of Partners to develop SSO capabilities. Though we can't give any definite timelines yet, we’ll keep this thread updated with news. Thanks

Hi everyone, a year on from my last engagement we wanted to provide an update for you all here.
As many will be across we're in the midst of making a lot of iterations and improvements to new invoicing leading up to the retirement of classic invoicing in September (2024).
We have a fair amount of work lined up in the teams schedule over the coming months and to give an indication there isn't any committed plans around a function to add interest to invoices.
That said, we do have a team that have picked up and are considering how we might solve this with the technology in new invoicing - It's early days on this yet, but I'll share if there's any progress on this for you all here.
In the meantime, as has been shared by others over time there are a few ways you could accomplish this…

At least we can all "enjoy" absolutely useless quarterly updates on new report layouts instead of features that would actually make a difference...Go Xero!

Hi community, some time passed since our last update in the thread here we do want to return and share - while our product teams explored possibilities for how we might represent Purchase Orders in Projects research has confirmed that there is underlying work needed to the platform Purchase Orders are built on before we can achieve any good outcomes of your needs here.
We have enthusiasm and a close eye remaining on the support for this, but want to be honest that this is not something that we’ll be able to focus our attentions on in the near future.
Once we have completed work first needed in the Purchase Orders space we can reassess how to integrate purchase Orders into Projects and will update you all of steps forward, here.

Hi everyone, we appreciate how automatically sending statements could improve cash flows, and save the manual efforts involved in this periodic task.
We recognise the importance of this functionality, and with a clear focus on decreasing the time it takes for our customers to receive payments, I’m pleased to share that this idea is now In discovery. 😊
While we can’t give any commitments to development yet, this is a good step in the right direction and we’ll be sure to update you on progress from the exploration here. Thanks!

Hi everybody, coming across from the previous forums we know this idea has a lot of interest.
There is a way of using Xero's reports to accomplish what you're asking here and save the format so you can easily access and send this report to your customers outside of Xero.
Running the Aged Receivables detail report you can choose how many ageing periods you'd like to show and set the period to '30 days'. Simply Filter the report by Contact and Update to run.
- Once you've got it set up, save as Custom so you can easily access this format anytime
- If you deal with groups of contacts this also means you could Filter for multiple contacts to combine the view into one report rather than multiple customer statements 🙂
- Export the report to PDF, where you can send to customers from your email system outside of Xero
We appreciate…

Hannah,
Thanks for the update. Frankly it's just not good enough!
Are we going to wait for another year until the next update?
This is a basic function that should have been available from day 1.
