Hey team, me again. Apologies, getting a little ahead of ourselves with the status of this idea.
I can confirm that self onboarding of new employees is live for Xero Payroll in AU, however this feature does not extend to NZ organisations right now.
This will be something we continue to consider as we keep developing Payroll for NZ and I'll share any further updates with you all here. Thanks

Thanks for continuing to explain how the current all or nothing Payroll Admin access affects your teams. We’re now developing more granular payroll permissions, starting with separate View, Edit and Approve Timesheets access so timesheet tasks can be delegated without exposing the wider payroll area.
While the current work is focused on Timesheets access directly we recognise there are other sensitive areas within payroll that you'd like more incremental access to and we'll continue to consider these as our development of permissions evolves.
I'll come back to share when these Timesheets options are live!

Improving user permissions and providing greater control over sensitive data is a key area of focus for us. While we have no specific feature to announce today, your feedback is critical in shaping the future of this part of Xero.
Because of the clear need you've all highlighted and our desire to investigate this further, we're moving this idea's status to In Discovery.
During the discovery phase, our product team will be digging deeper into the core problems you’ve raised.

Hi community, we're pleased to share that we’re now developing more granular payroll permissions for Timesheets that'll allow you to give employee's appropriate access without full access to other sensitive payroll information.
Your feedback has been really useful to our teams understanding and planning of permissions development across Xero payroll.
I'll be back to let you know as these permissions roll out and how you can set your users up with the access they need.

Also would be great if a branch manager could have a limited permission that allows them to only view and approve timesheets and leave but not view or have access to the entire payroll system. Currently, payroll admin can access/view everything. We just need the manager in the branch to be able to approve timesheets are correct so the payroll admin can process the rest. Not keen on giving all admin users a free for all of the entire companies employees personal information. Would love ability for timesheet approval with a limited admin access user, then we could actually use Xero My Payroll.
