Hey team, me again. Apologies, getting a little ahead of ourselves with the status of this idea.
I can confirm that self onboarding of new employees is live for Xero Payroll in AU, however this feature does not extend to NZ organisations right now.
This will be something we continue to consider as we keep developing Payroll for NZ and I'll share any further updates with you all here. Thanks

Hi everyone, we appreciate you taking the time to share how important more flexible payroll permissions are for your teams.
It's clear that having granular control over who can access different parts of payroll would make a real difference to how you manage timesheets and leave approvals, as well as restrict access to other sensitive areas.
From research, Payroll is definitely an area we know needs more permission controls for varying roles. This is something our product teams are beginning to explore and do deeper research of. We'll keep you updated as we make progress, and we're grateful for your continued input.

Improving user permissions and providing greater control over sensitive data is a key area of focus for us. While we have no specific feature to announce today, your feedback is critical in shaping the future of this part of Xero.
Because of the clear need you've all highlighted and our desire to investigate this further, we're moving this idea's status to In Discovery.
During the discovery phase, our product team will be digging deeper into the core problems you’ve raised.

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on allowing authorised employees to approve timesheets. We appreciate you sharing how having managers approve timesheets without full payroll access could help streamline processes.
Our product team is currently exploring more granular permission levels in payroll, so we’ve moved the idea to Accepted.
Although this isn't currently on the roadmap, we'll keep you updated as things progress. Thanks for your continued input.

Also would be great if a branch manager could have a limited permission that allows them to only view and approve timesheets and leave but not view or have access to the entire payroll system. Currently, payroll admin can access/view everything. We just need the manager in the branch to be able to approve timesheets are correct so the payroll admin can process the rest. Not keen on giving all admin users a free for all of the entire companies employees personal information. Would love ability for timesheet approval with a limited admin access user, then we could actually use Xero My Payroll.
