Hey everyone, we've been following the conversation closely and we want to acknowledge how important this is for many of you.

Atm, we’re on a long journey to provide more controls within Xero features that our customers need. Being such a broad idea that touches many areas of our platform, we’d like to encourage adding your votes to specific user permissions that matter most to you, such as:

I agree with everyone's comments, this is great! It's would be important to block access to certain reports. Such as allowing access to the accounts payable and receivable reports, issuing payments, and reports pertaining to those areas but blocking access to the financial reports such as Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet. Trial balance, etc. Also not allowing the user to have to certain financial data on the "Dashboard".

Xero - this is wonderful news!

Xero needs to work on fixing these issues. I have clients that want to give their employees the ability to enter supplier bills and issue the payment and print the checks. However a USERS cannot print a check unless they have access to all the reports, including all the financial reports, Profit and Loss, Balance sheet, etc. My clients have had to give USERS access to ALL the companies financial data and ask the USER not to look at the financials, very unprofessional and problematic. This is especially frustrating because we were told by Xero the parameters were built in and we would not have this issue. Xero has great software and it's unfortunate but my clients are looking into moving to Quickbooks.

We are struggling with this issue as well. Managers have to do the work themselves because we don't want juniors having access to all financial data. Xero please look at this.

This is a critical requirement and should be given priority by Xero.

Yes, please make this change! It would be perfect!
Xero should allow a user the ability to work in accounts payable and account receivable, including access to actually pay bills by cheque or batch payment (which you cannot current do) and access reports only for these two areas.
Currently, if you want a user to issue cheques, you must grant them full access to all the company's financial data.

Heya team, we're now actively testing how reports could be grouped and accessed, and we'd love your input in this, so we can design a better report grouping structure that supports role-based access in reporting.

Get involved! Complete a quick 15-min online activity to test how reports are grouped and accessed:

    • Part 1: answer questions about the current report grouping
    • Part 2: explores a new grouping and role-based report access

👉 If you're interested, please go through the link here.

Thanks again for your support and contributions to developing a solution that works best for majority of our customers!

(Just to note - If you’ve already gone through this activity, there's no need to do it again — our researchers may have contacted you earlier 😊)

Xero please relook at this. I agree with Leneze Toerien's comment "This forces a manager/owner to do all of the work which is not very effective". This is what we are struggling with.

I love your software except for this major issue!!
As Xero continues to promote the software to small businesses, Xero should consider that businesses require employees to work using the Xero software but do not want to share all the confidential financial data with the employees. Would you want to allow an accounts payable clerk or an accounts receivable clerk access to your profit and loss statement. The answer should be no. Xero should make this a priority and not leave it on the back burner.

Appreciate the idea here - Being transparent, developing granular permissions or roles for every feature and action throughout Xero is not in our plans.

Understanding more of the permission sets majority of users need, will help understand where the biggest impact could be made.

I've slightly adjusted the title to suit the needs of the role you mentioned. We'll get a sense of others that'd like this too.

This is CRITICAL and I'm not sure why Xero doesn't want to acknowledge that parameters need to exist. Not every that works in Xero should be privvy to all the financial data.

Hey everyone, thank you for all your feedback. We’re on a long journey to provide more granular access and controls within Xero features that our customers need.

As you may have seen in some of our recent updates across other user roles ideas we’re currently in the process of adding more permissions within Reporting and Inventory. Further to this our research has highlighted Payroll and Banking as areas that more controls are most needed, and are on our agenda as we continue to develop permissions and access to features.

Your feedback here and through direct engagements with our teams have been extremely insightful, and we appreciate all your inputs.

I'll continue to provide updates on the development of roles for features as we progress.

This is extremely important. Business owners need to feel confident that Users can access specifics areas without accessing all of the companies financial data. Xero please make this a priority.
