This has been on here for 2 years??? Really!!!. such an essential part of the system to ensure reduced admin and errors of posting in closed period's because we keep having to open and close them constantly! please correct this so it works properly

The most detrimental part of this is that you can not change a reference or a department on an invoice without having to open the closed off period.
This has caused us so many issues as i constantly need to open the period when a client advises of any changes to an invoice or if the department was incorrect. Surely items that do not affect the numbers should be ok to amend at any point...makes no sense to me -

Yes, this is really needed for bigger companies that are audited as it is a very time consuming and fiddly task to get this info from Xero

This is so important, Descriptions, Tracking and reconciling payments/credits should be allowed when a period is locked as this does not affect the figures. Everytime my team need to amend a description (for example a supplier invoice is taken off of hold and ready to pay as this is is the only function Xero has to put supplier invoices on hold) i have to reopen a period. Its counter productive and needs to change asap!!

Hey everyone, thank you for all your feedback. We’re on a long journey to provide more granular access and controls within Xero features that our customers need.
As you may have seen in some of our recent updates across other user roles ideas we’re currently in the process of adding more permissions within Reporting and Inventory. Further to this our research has highlighted Payroll and Banking as areas that more controls are most needed, and are on our agenda as we continue to develop permissions and access to features.
Your feedback here and through direct engagements with our teams have been extremely insightful, and we appreciate all your inputs.
I'll continue to provide updates on the development of roles for features as we progress.

User Role definitely needs to be more specific - I need to give a user to access verifying our CIS subcontractors only but this is not possible without giving them access to viewing and amending pretty much everything therefore my request is not possible even though i pay for this additional dd on!

We really see a need for this to allow us to report our CIS costs correctly within the profit and loss reports
This really needs to happen. I get so many queries from employees each Month. Its the YTD figures that cause most confusion. Really these should be listed on the left so the end figures are the Months pay element
