We thank you all for sharing in the idea here, and understand there are many permissions that our Xero customers would like to provide on a more incremental basis. As you'll all know access to bank accounts is available to users with Adviser, Standard or limited access to those with Read Only roles - You can see more of the breakdown in our article here
With much of the teams resource drawn to work on the platform that'll continue to help us with the 'building on beautiful' experience for our customers we want to be upfront that there are no direct plans for altering the user permissions in this space just yet.
User roles and individual permissions within a bank account will be in the limelight once much of the platform upgrades are complete, but this is some way off atm. We'll return to share when there's any…
An error occurred while saving the comment J Prescott commentedIt seems that Xero has its priorities wrong. Users are clear that this is a priority. Prettying up the interface isn’t
An error occurred while saving the comment J Prescott commentedWhy don’t Xero justify their lack of action on this? Is it difficult to program?? Are they short of staff? Don’t they care about their customers? Xero, what is the problem?

Hi community, thank you for your engagement and sharing how you'd like us to evolve roles for customers using Xero. User roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs - As you can see there is a large range of ideas for different roles shared by customers in Product Ideas.
We’re conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. To be upfront, the discovery of this work will be long running and there'll be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We’d like to invite you, our community to be part of this research and discovery. This may involve interviews and sharing further feedback through direct…J Prescott supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment J Prescott commented'Pay Now' shouldn't be displayed on invoices where the customer already has a DD in place as it is confusing, could lead to duplicate payments and cause them to contact us to query whether there is a problem with their DD when they don't need to.

An error occurred while saving the comment J Prescott commented'Pay Now' is so confusing for customers who have set up their direct debit with us already. Having just started with XERO I can foresee that my existing customers will be contacting me in droves to say that they have already set this up. In support conversations I am told that Xero can't tell whether a customer has or has't set up their DD already. But they can - this information is available in settings, so there is a flag in the system. To be honest it's obvious that there has to be a flag, it just needs USING to take this off where a customer already has their DD in place. The function of the invoice is merely to remind the customer of the date and amount of their next payment. This is a pretty fundamental bit of communication with customers and Sage already have this sorted. To summarise: if a customer already has a DD in place, they shouldn't see a 'pay now' button as their payment should already be automated.

I think short of sleeping with the CEO (volunteers?!) then this is never going to happen. Clearly there is a problem with the way the software is constructed that means this is too big a rewrite for Xero. Competitors take note - we may be sleeping with you soon!
