Hi 👋 you can set up direct debit payment services with GoCardless which enables more seamless payment collection from your customers.
Being rather security conscious we don't have any plans for enabling export of this sort of information from Xero any time in the near future and you may want to explore other options like the GoCardless integration for now.
We'll keep an eye on the interest for this here.

Hi community,
I wanted to let you know that the product and tech team have been following this thread and have been listening to your interest in the functionality. We do understand the frustration it’s causing when dealing with a large number of invoices awaiting payment. Your time is valuable, and the challenges you’ve encountered are not reflective of the seamless experience we aim to provide.
However, we are not able to build everything at once. And as a global business with many requests for our different regions and needs, when it comes to payments, we are prioritizing first improving the online invoicing experience to allow more payers to pay online. That is the most critical functionality as we know those using online payments, get paid faster. There are still some critical needs here.
This idea is on our radar though, and as we work through the priority list, it…

A change like this would have been infinitely more useful than the aggravating duplicate bills notification that's recently appeared. I can't fathom why development time would have been wasted on that when something like this should have had a higher priority.

Hi everyone, we appreciate the number of users that'd like to see more mechanisms to assign and control who approves specific employee's claims.
Our product teams have a close eye on this idea, and while this feature is not in the roadmap atm, they'll keep reviewing this as they continue to plan and prioritise work for Expenses. So, if there us any shift in status we'll share an update to keep you all informed on the idea, here.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the possible solution we shared a few months ago. After careful consideration taking all feedback on board, we will not be moving forward with this solution.
We're still considering how we might solve for the issues presented here over the long term and there are other pieces of work the team are currently delving into such as duplicate bills detection that may also help solve some needs here.
That said, we'll move the idea back to Submitted and continue to keep you updated on any progression that can help the needs expressed through the idea here. Thanks

Currently, GoCardless is the only option, and it requires a fee regardless of if I want the additional services it provides. A more equitable approach would be for Xero add a freemium direct debit option, based on the current functionality that creates BECS-compliant direct debit files for customer payments without using a third-party integration. This would lower the barrier for customers to set up direct debits. If they find value in GoCardless's additional services, they can choose to upgrade later in full awareness of the added functionality the fee gives them. At the moment I do feel that if I want to set up my customers to pay by Direct Debit, I'm being forced into making a purchase I don't really need as they "additional" functionality they provide is largely illusory.
