    Hi Matthew and Anthony, appreciate perhaps not as streamlined as you'd like here there is the ability to apply a prepayment to a bill. 

    In Xero, you would enter the bill to recognise the expense, payment itself would generally be recognised through the bank account when reconciling which is where you can create a prepayment and then apply the credit to the bill.

    Alternatively, if you'd like to do this from the bills screen, you could use the create icon (+) in the top blue navigation and select Spend Money when redirected you'll want to switch the 'Spent as' to Prepayment from Direct Payment.

    I also have the issue of not being able to deduct CIS from retention claims. It seems this should be a relatively simple software update for Xero. Still not sure what the neatest workaround is going to be.

    There is also an existing issue around permissions. A user with "Invoice Only" permission in Xero can only see Files in the "Inbox". If we upload supplier invoices from Hubdoc, they go to the "Hubdoc" folder in Files that the user can't see. They can't therefore add this file to the PO or Bill that it relates to.

    We appreciate users wanting more flexibility in the data they show on invoices. At present our teams are re-developing some of the base features across Sales with particular focus on new invoicing.


    At this time, there are no plans for developing a fields for a PO number in invoicing. Focus is on existing features in invoicing.


    It's good to get a renewed understanding of interest here on Product Ideas, and if there's any news we will update on this here.


    In the meantime, there is a way the custom template can be edited to rename the Reference field as a 'Purchase Order Number' field - see more in the discussion here

    Hi everyone, we’ve taken time to review the suggestion to include custom fields for both invoices and contacts, and recognise the value it'd bring in helping users capture more detailed information and avoid manual processes.

    However, with other focuses drawing the teams attention such as multiple addresses this idea is not on our current development roadmap.

    As we continue to plan future roadmaps, being highly supported this idea will continue to be considered, however we want to be open about it's current position with you all here. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and for your ongoing participation in the Xero community. Any changes to this status will be shared with everyone on this idea.
