Hi everyone, thanks for your continued engagement and support for the idea of making tracking categories mandatory in Xero. We really appreciate you sharing your insights on the benefits that adding this feature would bring to your financial reporting and month-end processes.
Right now, you could use find and recode to assign a tracking option to any transaction lines that are currently unassigned.
Regarding the future of this idea, we've carefully reviewed all your feedback and the critical need you've expressed for this feature. While we understand the value and time-saving potential this improvement would bring, we want to be transparent that making tracking categories mandatory across all relevant transactions isn't on our roadmap for development. If our position of this changes in time, we'll share an update for everyone, here.

Hi team, thanks for the extra input and detail in how your business operates in relation to the needs here.
I want to be transparent with you all here that this isn't something we have plans for developing projects for at this time, however are continuing to pay attention to the ideas and improvements our customers would like to see in this feature through these forums. I'll share if there are any updates planned.

Hi Ryan thanks for raising this with us. We appreciate the need for a Tracking option within the Projects space. While this is not available currently we will open this up fro the community so they can add their vote. Did you know if you've set up tracking categories, you can assign a category to use for the contact's transactions from the contact default section?
When you create a new transaction, click in the tracking field and the assigned category will populate (you don't need to select it from the list). You can refer to the subheading Default Settings here .Cheers!

Thanks for the detail in your idea here, Kevin. We don't have any plans to enable the changing of amount in Find & recode in the near term. We'll get a gauge a sense of the demand for this from community in your idea here.
