Hi Karen, thanks for sharing this suggestion. It’s clear that having the Home Page open in a new tab while working on a tax return would make it easier to quickly check the dashboard without interrupting your flow. Being able to keep your place in a return while referencing other information sounds like a helpful way to stay efficient.
As mentioned in the thread, you can currently right click the Home link and select “Open in new tab” as a workaround. I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can track interest and help our product teams understand the value of making this behaviour more seamless during tax prep.

Hi everyone — thanks for flagging this! It’s clear the “Discard” button’s current spot is causing a few accidental clicks, especially after you’ve just entered your time. Losing your work like that is frustrating, and we get how it turns a quick task into extra effort.

Hi Lisa, thanks for raising this. It’s clear that these friction points in the timesheet entry process are leading to extra steps that slow things down.
We hear you that things like the date resetting to Monday can disrupt your efficiency.
I’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can track interest and show our product team how improving these defaults and navigation could make time entry smoother and more efficient.

Hi Logan, thanks for raising this. We understand the preference to have the Search feature position on the far right of the header. For teams who use it frequently throughout the day, even small layout changes can affect established workflows.
As a tip in the meantime, you can press / on your keyboard to jump straight to the global search field without needing to navigate to it with your mouse.
I've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community. If there are other navigation changes that have impacted your workflow, we'd love to hear more.

Hi team, thanks for your input to this idea. Being upfront here, while this widget was evaluated as part of new Xero Partner Hub, with low usage we did make the decision that this wouldn't be a widget that we'd develop within the new experience.
We appreciate there are some users that do find this useful you can get to this from Job Manager in the Important dates tab. To get here more efficiently you may also like to add a custom link to the homepage in the Quick Actions widget.

Hi Gabby, thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's clear that when multiple tabs are open, it can be easy to lose track of which tab is the client tax return.
Adding clearer visual cues like colour-coding or more distinct tab titles could help you move between Tax and Practice areas more confidently.

Thanks for starting this conversation. We understand the request to show all assigned staff in the Staff Assigned column in Job Manager, rather than only the primary staff member. Having everyone visible at a glance could make it easier to review job allocations without opening each job.

Hi Michael. We understand the ask in having a quick, at-a-glance view of Work in Progress (WIP) to help with billing and cash flow visibility. At the moment, this information is available through existing Work in Progress Reports.
We’ll track the demand on this idea, and keep this updated if there’s any progress to share.

Hi Amy, thanks for taking the time to share this idea.
It sounds like being able to see the dollar value of Work in Progress (WIP) directly within the Jobs list would give much better visibility over workload and billing readiness. Having unbilled time and costs displayed at a glance, without needing to open each job or run a separate report, would make it easier to quickly spot what’s ready to invoice.

Thanks for your feedback, Karen. Can see the logic in being straight back to the job you were in rather than to the full jobs list.
