  1. XERO: Reporting Operating Vs. G&A Expenses in Income Statement Report
In the current income statement report, there is no way to split single account between operating and G&A expenses as XERO does not allow tracking on rows. This will result in finalizing reports through excel sheets or the need to duplicate accounts in COA to enable report expenses separately by nature.

Hi Neil, do you have an example of the sort of report you're looking for here? The Profit & Loss report will show you both the Gross Profit, expendable activities and Net Profit, which you can drill into the figures of to view the related items that make up the figure of in the Profit & Loss? Or is it something a bit different you're looking for here?

  3. I have clients with multiple projects and multiple contractors billing for each project. If I want to sort the cost of the contractors by contractor, to evaluate the individual profitability of each person working on the project, then I have to create an estimated expense for each contractor. Easy enough - their contracts have the maximum hours they're expected to be billing my client.

But if I forgot to assign each bill to a tracked expense before I on-bill that expense, then once the hours that the contractor has worked have been on-billed, I can't assign them to a tracked…

  4. The new way of importing bank statements does not work for our company.
Can XERO allow a permanent setting to default to classic import instead of having to switch there manually every time?

  5. There used to be a feature that you could zoom into a bill that had been uploaded when putting the information into Xero ( when the bill shows at the left of the Xero page ) This has gone and now I have to keep popping bills in and out to see details. Please could it be re-instated

  6. When payrun is done in Xero, the payroll payment file will be automatically sent to the bank (without authorisation). This could save the time of exporting payment files and import payment files to the bank.

Hi Sung Tak, appreciate you raising this with us however we want to be upfront that we don't have any plans around this. This process requires user input as a means of validation. If automated it could cause issues when making corrections to pay runs, or if a pay run was accidentally posted.

  7. Xero Projects Reporting - fixed charges to be included in Charge Amount column

We use Xero Projects in our accounting practice to track time / costs for client billing. We have some clients who are on fixed monthly charges (e.g. $1,000 per month). When viewing the Xero Projects reports to track performance for the month so far, the fixed charges do not appear in the Charge Amount column. It would be beneficial if the fixed charges appears in the Charge Amount column, given they will be charged.

This allows us to forecast profit for the month more effectively. If we…

  8. The ability to set a default date range for the tax report in Xero.

Would love the option to have default to previous month. It's an annoyance to have to set the beginning and ending time each time the report is run.

  9. Would like to add add decimals (up to 4) in the bank rule feature for the tax rates (otherwise I need to manually change all the amount of my reconciliations which is time consuming).

For instance at the moment we can input 102.15% but not 102.1451% which is what I would like to have.

  10. As a small business it is hard when employees take time off when sick especially with 10 days now. We have an incentive in our contract to either roll these over or cash them up however this is not available through Xero.

Appreciate you sharing detail and why you'd like a cash up option with us here. Being open, as this is more specific to your business(not regulatory) we don't have plans for adding a cash up option within NZ Payroll.

However, there are currently two ways you could achieve this within Xero Payroll today

    1. Leave the Sick Leave maximum to accrue value as nil this will allow an indefinite roll over of sick leave
    2. If you're wanting to cash up then enter a sick leave request for a single day and enter the total value of a week to cash up with a description of cash up

We hope this can meet the needs you're after in recording cash up for sick leave. Thanks

  11. My role as a user is to load my credit card receipts into Purchases/Add Bill. On the template screen I would like to be able to have a "favorite's list" when selecting the "Categorise to an account". Also, all my expenses are to the same Department so it would be great if I could set a default, same with "Select tax rate". Thanks!

  12. It appears that in the last two weeks (submitted 23/2/2022) Xero rolled out a change to payroll, which possibly has some unforeseen implications.

It used to be that if you were only paying a small number of employees at one time, you could use the summary screen (capture attached) to copy and paste the net pay figure for each employee to your online banking portal to effect the actual payment(rather than exporting to a file, and then importing the file to the online banking which is a little clunky for small number of employees - there doesn't exist the same…

Sounds like you're wanting to copy the employees net pay from the pay run overview screen, but it's taking you into their payslip, Tom?

Instead you could download the payslips report by opening the required pay run, clicking 'View Reports'and selecting Payslips - This'll download a PDF with all the employees payslips included. From this, you can copy and paste each employee's net pays into your online banking. 🙂

  13. Reports Projects Filter Staff:

When filtering Project time reports by staff, is it possible to show only currently active (valid) users rather than any and every user ever associated with the account for all time? Can the list be alphabetized?

Currently the list includes every user that ever existed including every instance of when Xero Support was invited (via a support ticket) as well as staff removed from the practice. Furthermore, it is in a random order.

  16. I had an issue where I made a couple of batch payments via Wise Pay and one of those batches had an issue and I received a notification on Xero that 2 payments had failed. The notifications do not refer to the batch number. Please can this be added as it would be a great help in identifying the correct batch of where the issue lays in the future.

Hi all, while we removed the Pay with Wise as a follow on from our last update we wanted to confirm that we have released UK bill payments in Xero.

Customers in the UK can set up direct bank transfer as a payment method for GBP bills to quickly and securely pay bills. Funds are transferred from your bank account by Crezco using open banking. The availability of open banking in the UK has enabled us to offer this on-platform. 🙂- Read more on our Blog

  17. Under the new STP Phase 2 screens there is no-longer options on the 'Tax' tab to select Working Holiday Maker, rather just 'Australian resident' and 'Foreign resident'.

I understand on the 'Employment' tab you now need to make this selection, however, I've already had many users reach out confused thinking they need to select 'Foreign Resident' now.

My suggestion is to do one of the following:

    1. Add Working Holiday Maker as an option and have it link back to the Employment tab if selected.

    2. Add a text note in the 'Tax' tab section explaining the requirement to return to the…

Hi Kielan, thanks for the idea. While we appreciate your feedback for where to select Working holiday maker, we want to be upfront that we don't have direct plans for making these changes in the foreseeable future.

As you’ve mentioned there is a placement to accomplish what you're asking here by selecting Working holiday maker in the employment tab under Income type.

  18. Currently, when we use Pay With Wise, each bill is paid as a separate payment from Wise to the supplier. This is not the expected way, as suppliers prefer to have one payment per month which bundles all pending receivables from us. This mimics how payment batch files work.

Please improve Pay with Wise so that multiple bills for the same supplier are sent as one bank payment.
