Invoices - Date columns for individual line items
Ability to add date columns for individual line items.
Purpose: To make users easily put a date for each item. The scenario that can benefit users is for them to show a specific date of when the product/service is delivered.
Hi everyone, we appreciate the interest in being able to add dates to individual lines of an invoice. Currently our team are focused on improvements to new invoicing and we want to be upfront we don't have any plans for adding a date column to the details grid within an invoice atm.
Right now if you do require dates for individual line items we'd recommend adding these within the Description field of the line.
We will continue to review this as we continue to evolve the product. If there are any updates or changes, we'll share this all with you through the idea here. Thanks

How have only 37 people voted for this? Switched from Quickbooks, assumed this was possibly the most basic column inclusion for an invoice. Can Xero not just deliver this? Xero team admin response above from 2012 is woeful.

I just signed up for Xero after a lengthy debate on if I should leave my previous book keeping solution.

As a consulting company, we are often required to add a date for when we delivered a particular line item within an invoice. A typical monthly invoice may have up to 20 line items with individual dates of when those services were delivered. This helps the accounting department of our clients reconcile which business unit will pay for our services.

Add mergefield for cost date so the date can be shown next to each cost item

I don’t understand how this isn’t part of Xero already.
If I invoice my customers for a service I provide, it needs to have the date I provided that service.
And yes, we can go into the details and add the date into the description manually, but that doesn’t work for recurring invoices.
Why is that my calendar on my iPhone has more functionally than Xero?
We should not only be able to set a date, but we should also be able to set recurring dates for recurring invoices.
Eg. My gardener mows my lawns on the first Monday of every month, or a Monday every two weeks, or the 14th of every month.

For invoices related to services provided (rather than products sold), invoices need to have the date a service was provided.
If I get an appointment with a healthcare provider, their invoice will list the date of my appointment. However I can't do the same for my customers when I provide a service for them.
Yes, I can add the date into the description, but that doesn't work for reoccurring invoices where I wish to invoice a client for a service provided every "Monday and Wednesday" of each week.
I'm kinda surprised that having a date a service was provided isn't part of Xero's system already. Really hoping this can be added ASAP to all individual invoices, and then added to reoccurring invoices later on once you figure out how to do it.

Having a 'use date' against line items would avoid customer confusion when receiving my invoices. I run an activity centre, and invoice visiting schools once after their visit. Have one line item covering multiple days of 'camping', or an activity, isn't clear.

How hard could it be ? The option for this and a seperate column for docket numbers. Surely it would be easier for users to delete unwanted columns than simply not to have them
