Invoices - Date columns for individual line items
Ability to add date columns for individual line items.
Purpose: To make users easily put a date for each item. The scenario that can benefit users is for them to show a specific date of when the product/service is delivered.

Hi everyone, we appreciate the interest in being able to add dates to individual lines of an invoice. Currently our team are focused on improvements to new invoicing and we want to be upfront we don't have any plans for adding a date column to the details grid within an invoice atm.
Right now if you do require dates for individual line items we'd recommend adding these within the Description field of the line.
We will continue to review this as we continue to evolve the product. If there are any updates or changes, we'll share this all with you through the idea here. Thanks

This function is critical to the clients business.

This would be super helpful for our business. We issue a monthly invoice which has multiple entries for dates throughout the month.
It would be awesome to have a date field which captures this date, but also then allows us to run reporting on line item dates so we could say - capture a days trading, or with the help of tracking codes, capture a days trade for a specific vehicle or driver etc.

I remain perplexed about this missing feature. Perhaps someone somewhere runs a business where every customer receives an invoice every day of every year, but not me.
I like to put several days of service (or even a whoooole month *gasp*) on on a single invoice (*applause*). But a list of services without dates performed is unacceptable. I'm not even mad, it's just factually unacceptable for a large segment of the business world. I am politely requesting this be fixed.

This was first flagged in 2012 and it's still outstanding??? Really?

I agree, this is the most basic of invoicing 101, I can't believe Xero missed this one.

Come from QuickBooks to Xero, disappointed that there is no service date feature. Such a basic requirement.

Add new column to Sales Invoice to allow delivery date in description body before product name.
Have clients who use tipper lorries making multiple tips each day and bill customers monthly, so date for each days deliveries is essential requirement from them. This feature is standard in Quick Books who they have been using successfully and very surprised Xero not offer this option or could not be added in templates available. -

When preparing invoice have clients want option to add a date (delivery date) in first column of sales invoice as they make multiple deliveries a day and only bill the customer once monthly so each days deliveries important by date. They moved to Xero from Quickbooks who has this in their invoice template as standard we believe and disappointed this not available in Xero.

this is such a basic item I am really quite shocked that Xero has not made this an option as yet.

I've had clients come across from Quickbooks and they are very disappointed that there is no date column to show service dates. If they had have known this, then they would have remained with Quickbooks.
Please add a date column as an option for Xero invoicing!

I've moved from an invoicing service where I was paying $5 a month, to Xero, assuming it was superior. I'm confused as to why they haven't considered including an option to add a date column. All my services require a date when I completed the works. I don't understand how a $5 invoicing service can include these features, but a so-called, superior platform like Xero does not include these features!

No date column is a dealbreaker. How does anybody get paid for their work without saying when they did the work? I'm baffled.

I actually can’t believe that this is not offered! I’ve come over from QuickBooks because I thought Xero was superior, looks like I was wrong! What about people offering services? Makes no sense. Basic really!

I would like this feature to be added. This would be a feature many people would use. Clients like to enter date then an item which brings through description. Please keep us updated on any progress that might happen with this

I have spoken to a support technician and also previously popped my comments on the Xero Product Ideas however after reading other client comments regarding the same issue it doesn't appear that Xero are really looking or considering making this change. From a users perspective, this is absolutely needed so I'm not sure why this wouldn't be made a priority.

Agree with all previous comments! My customers are demanding I provide actual service dates for each line of the invoice as we have to list a number of services on a single invoice each day/week. All we need is the ability to tick a 'date column' option from the current column list when invoicing.
I have tried to design and import my own custom invoice however, that was a complete failure as it doesn't work!
Please make this a priority Xero Team - such a simple request to save us users unnecessary work-arounds.

The date a service was provided is a critical piece of information required by our clients. We have jobs running over several days that are grouped and invoiced and need to show each individual day/date line item and expense. Previously I have used MYBO which has allowances for this. We utilise allocations software which pushes job information into Xero - the fact that Xero does not have the ability to customise available fields from that software during exporting is poor.
I would hope that this matter is attended to as a priority.

Our company has multiple entries to all invoices and I need to be able to enter the 'date' of service in the first column of the invoice line items. I have edited an invoice and customised however it doesnt work when I upload the template.
Please consider adding this option to templates.

Xero obviously does not value their customers. Time to move to another provider.

This is an essential part of every one of my invoices, and my clients expect to see it.
