Project: Task list - Ability to change the order in the list.
Ability to change the order of the tasks from the list.
Purpose: To make users’ workflow more efficient rather than having to scroll down to find the task each time.

It would be very helpful to be able to change the order of the task list and as others have pointed out, this seems to be a quite basic feature. It's a bit disheartening to read in the comments that this has been requested years ago and nothing has been done about it.

I need to be able to reorder tasks in a project. This is a basic functional requirement

I would find it very useful if within Projects, the order in which Tasks appear could be changed once they have been entered. On a complex customer quotation I can have up to 20 tasks and they seem to only appear in the order in which they were entered.

This should be be an obvious bit of functionality as tasks are not always added in the order we lie to see them

Thanks for your comment Annett, we are also a joinery business just starting to use Projects and I can see that if I have to add new joinery items it will be very difficult for our staff to add their time. I really really hope Xero puts some resources into improving Projects as it is great, but will be awesome with this improvement.

Please get this very important feature up and running as soon as possible.
We constantly have to add tasks to projects and I would like to order them more logically rather than just sticking them to the end.
We`re a joinery business. Every project starts with the design than the different production tasks and at the end the installation. If the client decides to add a production task it sits at the very end behind the install on my list. This is a nightmare for my employees adding their time.I don't think I`m the only one with this problem

This seems like a basic function that shouldn't have to be requested!!
I hope this feature will be added ASAP. -

I am in the process of introducing Xero Projects to our team and I just discovered that newly added tasks don't slot in, in alphabetical order with the rest! And that I can't manually reorder the tasks! This is a bit of a disaster. Please fix asap! I really want Xero Projects to work well in our team.

It would be so valuable to be able to reorder items in projects…

Being able to rearrange items in a list has been standard expected UI behaviour for years. When you can't do it it feels broken and is extremely frustrating. I don't even use this software anymore but it still annoys me that it hasn't been fixed!

Don't know why I keep voting for this. It seems like it's constantly being moved to another forum or having the votes wiped. Xero isn't listening to us anyway so I'll be cancelling my subscription to Xero Projects and redirecting those funds to an addon that might actually care about its users.

Adding my 2 cents in again, since my original post is now buried in some unread forum.
Even if there was the ability for alphabetical sorting, then at least I could put a 00, 01, 02, etc on the front of the task to order it as necessary. That would require almost zero development. -

This was requested over 3 years ago, see here:
https://central.xero.com/s/question/0D51N00004tOEzISAW/feature-request-reorder-tasks-in-a-project?t=1655263758267Please Xero, its so painful not to have the ability to sort tasks (even alphabetically would be a start!)

After adding new Project expenses, would be great to arrange or rearrange in alphabetical/numerical order. E.g. 6 dots in left column allowing movement much like adding a line to an invoice.
Would save so much time reviewing and reporting. Update would be appreciated sooner rather than later please.

It's a pain not being able to move tasks as you see fit!
