Another vote for this please! Seems very strange that you can't bulk select bills to add to a project - particularly in these days where most of us are creating bills via Dext or similar.

I tried the method setput by AJ Bertenshaw below, but there is no options +Add in the recode dropdown? Step 8 doesn't seem to work.

I can only select from contacts/account/tax rates - can't find the projects anywhere?

8. Press the "+add" link
9. Choose the only option there: Project

Please add this feature, it's too time consuming to add projects to bills one by one. I have more than 10k bills to assign projects to them. please do something.

You can might add new screen like cash coding just for assign projects to bills with ability to view attached bill file like bills in draft screen.

This should already be a option..

Please add 'bulk assign' to projects - this is too time consuming to do individually. This seems like something that would be quite easy to fix. I need to be able to select multiple items at once to assign to a cost code in the project. Doing this one by one takes forever!

Hasn't anyone noticed that this feature does actually exist? I came here looking for the answer, and got a little dishaertened when I saw the complaints that it hasn't been done, however I kept going and within 2 mintues I found that this feature DOES exist.

Here's how you access it:
1. Make sure you have Advisor role access (this gives you acces to the Find & Recode feature). If you are user admin, you can give this to yourself.
2. Go to Accounting > Advanced
3. Click the Find & Recode feature
4. Press Find and Recode button
5. Set your search criteria
6. Tick all the lines you want to bulk assign a project
7. Press the Recode button
8. Press the "+add" link
9. Choose the only option there: Project
10. Choose the project you want to assign all the selected transactions to

It’s really beginning to feel like Xero is going the way of many saas companies that got quite successful in a short-ish space of time — customers are becoming the product.

We needed this feature 2-3 years ago and we STILL need it. Please assign some resources to implementing things that your customers are ACTUALLY asking for.

Any way this can be implemented using the template bill csv? Doesn't quite make sense to be able to bulk import all details but we have to go through each individual bill just to assign to projects.

Raised in 2019 lol not coming anytime soon then? This is badly needed as is code that matches the project name in the description that auto find and matches the project in Xero prior to saving the transaction and reconciling. Quickbooks is better in this area than Xero. One by One takes us more than a full day of staff time for 200 transactions and that is going to get worse as we grow.

Add this option through Find & Recode, similar to how Tracking Categories can be reassigned in bulk.

Please, please, please update this feature. It can't be that hard. The process of individually assigning costs is laborious

Projects is unusable until this feature is implemented.

This one is actually killing me!! Please update this.

In fact, just spend money transactions and expense management in projects in general.

If a bunch of expenses have been assigned to the wrong project you have to go into the project and do the following:
- click on each one, which gives you a pop-up,
- you THEN have to click the Spend Money link,
- Click Options,
- Click Edit Transaction,
- Click Assign to Project,
- Type the project,
- Click project,
- Save,
- Update Transaction

Now do this 10 times for each transaction........!!!!!!!

Hi,

We have a lot of projects and a lot of bills to allocate in these projects. It is taking me forever to do that individually!

Is there any solution to make the progress more efficient?

I have a lot of transactions that go through from HubDoc assigned the client and then need reassigning to a specific project for invoicing. It would be much slicker to be able to bulk assign from the customer items for invoicing report.

I have bills with dozens of line items that have to be addressed individually to assign the project. It would be great to be able to bulk assign line items from multiple sections of Xero, including the bank feed, or even using the mass upload spreadsheets
