Xero Blue | Global Search - Search Contacts by address
Ability to search contacts by address and phone number.
Purpose: To have more options for users to search their contacts in Xero.
Hey community,
Just following on from our last update, this is being rolled out - you'll have it now or in the next few days!
You can now use the global search function to find contacts by Address line 1 - 4 as well as Postcode/Zip code. I’ve attached a screenshot so you can see it action
Thanks again for all the comments and feedback around this idea, for more on this change, check out our Xero Central support article.

I am very surprised that such a useful task is not already available in Xero, the accounting side of Xero is at the top of it's game, but not being able to search through your data easily is quite an oversight and should be included as soon as possible. You wouldn't believe how much time can be wasted looking for a client that you have forgotten their name but know what street they live in.

How is possible that is missing a filter by address? zip ? city? Country? Please are basic things in an invoice system

We have multiple clients that work more off a contacts address rather than a name (or even a mobile number) it would be great to be able to search contacts by a street name, suburb or postcode (especially from a marketing, sales management perspective)

A basic necessity. I have been working with customer databases since the 1980s and this is the first one I have ever come across that does not allow users to search contacts by telephone number or postcode.
It is possible to search Contacts using the email field but this is not as useful nor as quick as the postcode field.
In its present format, Xero makes finding customers difficult. If I want to raise an invoice for a customer and I am searching Contacts for David Roberts for example, there may be 10 different customers of the same name, I do not want to laboriously trudge through all the records hoping to find the right one, whilst my customer is waiting on the phone and other potential customers are waiting in a queue. How much easier it would be to ask for a postcode and boom, job done.
It has been suggested I use the Smart List to help find customers but this is an overcomplicated and unnecessary step. Incidentally the Smart List function is extremely poor, has been developed without any understanding of the need to actually find data.
Please, please give us the ability to search Contacts by postcode or telephone number.

Such a simple update it would seem, yet no action. Please consider because we often have contact numbers and or address but are unable to identify customer names

This has been suggested for at least 3 years. Many people want it. Other packages have it. It isn't difficult to add it for such a large company now. Needs to be added ASAP.

Searching by address would make things alot easier. Often we do not have customers name but have the address. Would be a useful feature.

I'd love to be able to search by customer's address. We often have bookings for an address that has changed owners, so to be able to search by address would let us see the history of jobs done at that property, regardless of the owner.
