Account Transactions report - Ability to change default columns when drilling into report
Although you can save a custom Account Transactions report as the new default report, Xero still displays the original default Account Transactions columns if you drill down to account activity from Balance Sheet or Income Statement.
This currently requires re-adjusting the column settings every time.
Appreciate the detail, and thanks for raising this here in the forums.
While this isn't something we have direct plans for atm, we're keeping an active eye on the idea here and will share if there's any change.

It's already frustrating enough that we're being forced to the new version of some of the most commonly used reports making them load much slower but now when drilling into the account from P&L which opens the new Account Transactions report you cannot have it defaulted to your layout straight away so you have to select your layout from the list on the left for each account you open up from P&L. New version is supposed to be better not worse than the old one. Very disappointed with the change.

This is a really standard process, accountants are there to scrutinise reports for senior managment and the time it takes to look at individual transactions and then go back to look at another one, AND THEN having to set the same parameters again is crazy! and time wasting.

Too many columns means required information cannot be sourced at a glance. This undermines the benefits of Xero by a large margin. I understand the need for new reporting, but I don't understand why the drill down has to become unwieldy at the same time. Help !!

It would be really great to be able to cusomize how you generally want to see the reports. For example, I rarely use the "gross" and tax" columns, and so every single time I run an account transactions report, I have to deselect these options.
I could create a custom report, but that requires selecting an account first. So then every time I run an account transaction report, I would need to deselect the "default" account and choose the one I want. I would also need to fix the dates (ie. an old custom report I made had dates from 2021 and I still need to correct the year every time I run that report).
There should be an option for each type of report to select the settings/columns/defaults for that report. Or an option for the user to choose which columns they'd like to see on the report.

Agree. The default layout has for too many columns and it's frustrating not being able to customise the layout to something which meets my requirements.

SUPER IMPORTANT! WHY WOULD YOU NOT SHOW THE CONTACT NAME? HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO REVIEW LEDGERS WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION?
REMOVE THE DATE AND THE AMOUNT WHILE YOU'RE AT IT... WHO NEEDS THIS INFO ANYWAYS?
DATE, DESCRIPTION, AMOUNT, AND TYPE OF TRANSACTION ARE THE BASICS. WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN ARE ALL SUPER BASIC AND REQUIRED. LAUGHABLE THAT THIS WOULD BE LEFT OFF...
IF YOU WANT TO BE AN ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE YOU NEED TO ACT LIKE ONE PLEASE. DON'T LEAVE OUT THE BASICS.

Adjusting the report column defaults would be very helpful to clients not familiar with Xero.
