Trial Balance - Ability to see current month figure along with YTD

The ability to see current month figures together with year to date on a trial balance report. This was possible on the old version of the trial balance but not on the new version.

Taking on board feedback, and considering some of the changes we've made across reporting recently we wanted to highlight the General Ledger Summary report that can be set up to meet your needs here. 🙂

You can set up the new General Ledger Summary report to run for a 'Month' date range, and select to include Opening and Closing balances.

With this run, Debit and Credit columns will only show the movement within the period, while the closing balance will be the YTD figure for the account (showing as positive or negative).

If you find this handy, you can save it as a Custom report rather than having to set up the layout each time you'd like to run the report.

    Ability to view monthly TB movements at a glance is essential. Ability to select nominals for drill-down into (just) monthly transactions also very helpful - ie. everything the retired Xero TB did and the new version does not!

    Ideally, user should be able to pick start & end date to create a period TB for any date range, but please give us monthly movements at the very least.

    All of the processes to get this basic information take much longer than they should. I am raising this as an idea as suggested, but very shocked this is not a built in report. Like I said, we have AJEs that must be made monthly and quarterly, and these amounts are based on activity just for the month. At present the only options I have to get this data require me to do a lot of manual work that ends up costing me time and now I have train staff on how to finagle a report that should simply be built in. This needs to be updated ASAP.

    Totally agree with bellow comments. Would like to hear feedback from Xero on what's happening with this. I am relaying on TB monthly figures for my reports, and with out them you are creating extra work and wasted time/money on something I never needed before.
    Xero - I think it is time you are paying attention to our comments and giving us some answers/ feedback.

    Agreed! I find it kind of irresponsible for Xero to offer a trial balance report without being able to report on the current month and not just YTD.

    This is vital ! Why was a new report introduced without this ? Somebody in Xero's development dept. needs a visit to the headmaster's study .........

    Yes I got a 'Trial Balance' report made up for me by support with month and YTD but doesnt show all general ledger accounts just same ones as P & L

    A basic accounting report needed each month to balance

    How can they get so many reports wrong with update????

    I just saw another similar request for TB to show movement for selected period. This is CRITICAL for business use and without this function, it'll cost time and money to produce MI. I think, I will move all 6 of my companies from Xero if this is not resolved in next month or two.

    Don't understand why it was taken off in the first place!!!

    Please make it so that the Trial Balance still shows the month reporting in Debit and Credit columns as well as the YTD. This is so important for monthly reporting to see the movement.
