Reporting - Compare Tracking Category
When using the new version of the P & L and selecting the Compare Tracking category option, would it be possible to build in a function where the report only shows items with any activity in the selected period, rather than showing everything?

We've made a recent change to the way you can view Tracking in the newer Profit & Loss! We appreciate the efficiency users found in being able to compare tracking across categories with the older reports and have uplifted this in the newer version.
You'll now see the option to ‘Compare by tracking categories’ on the screen when you open the new Profit & Loss.
When selecting tracking categories, if there has not been any activity within your selected report dates you will not see a column for this shown in the results when the report is run - This is part of the releases mentioned last month in “A sneak peek into what’s next for reports in Xero”

This should not be listed here as a new request for a feature as it already existed and they are removing it! This is exactly how the report worked (old report)
The new report doesn't separate jobs and brings in every tracking ever made regardless of date range. I can't understand what they think they are doing with the tracking bringing in items from back in 2018 if that is how old your file is.
The new P&L report job tracking is trash.Don't remove the old report until you have copied the functionality of the old one which worked perfectly fine. It's such an important report.

This is really important to a couple of my clients.
When running the "Account Transactions" report there is the option to choose to only display those accounts with transactions in the period selected. Having this ability when comparing tracking categories in reports (e.g. Profit and Loss by tracking category) would mean that we were able to run the reports in Xero easily rather than having to go through and deselct the tracking categories that have not been used in the period which is a fairly laborious process. -

Add to the Balance Sheet Report, in the common formats taskbar the quick comparision option using tracking categories, as avaialble in the new Profit & Loss report.
