    Hi Community! Thanks for your active and on-going participation in this idea. The volume of comments and votes highlights how important more granular user permissions are for managing your payroll processes effectively.

    Improving user permissions and providing greater control over sensitive data is a key area of focus for us. While we have no specific feature to announce today, your feedback is critical in shaping the future of this part of Xero.

    Because of the clear need you've all highlighted and our desire to investigate this further, we're moving this idea's status to In Discovery.

    During the discovery phase, our product team will be digging deeper into the core problems you’ve raised.

    We appreciate your patience as we explore this. We'll be sure to update this thread when we have more to share. Thank you again for helping us understand what matters most to you.

    So the survey has nothing to do with user rolls.

    Why would Payroll reports not be an option for users roles?
    A client was advised to allow read only for DD purposes only read only will give no access to the required payroll reporting.
    This should be an option to tick if required. User rolls have always been an issue within xero and I have seen no change in over 10 years. Yet we have a stupid bot.
    Xero please prioritise industry specific requirements. You don' t need a separate survey, this doesn't even allow you to comment what you want! Please we have been screaming out for user changes for years.

    Hi community, we really appreciate your feedback on this and hearing why you'd like to be able to change the organisation's name that's shown when sending invoices from Xero.

    This is on our teams radar, and is something they may look into longer term however we want to be open that it's not in the current roadmap.

    We'll continue to track and keep across the interest from our community, and if there's any news to share we'll update you on this, here.

    When there are 2 businesses run from within the Xero organisation (Trust) all settings are set for Branding themes, however the customised email to client when opened shows the Organisation name as well as the Invoice Trading Name. This is super confusing and the organisation name is the name that imports to their accounting records, not the Trading name on the Invoice.
    Have requested previously and again today asked to put it here by support as there is no fix.
    I fear I will be retired when this eventually gets looked at as I have now been dealing with this for 11 years!

    Thanks for sharing and showing interest in how we can develop user roles to suit your needs when using Xero.

    With many varying ideas for roles and permissions in different areas of our products, user roles impact all areas of the product. There are many factors we must consider when addressing how to solve for majority of our customers needs.

    We’re in the process of conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. This being one of our highest voted ideas surrounding roles is a specific focus for the team. too.

    Discovery of this work is its first stages and will be long running. There will be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.

    We value our customers input and would like to…

    There is nothing Beautiful about not listening. This issue of user access to bank accounts has been an issue well before you changed the name of this to product ideas and deleted all of the original ones 10years ago. If I want staff to use Projects for Jobs and costing I have to let them see my Bank rec screen. Makes no sense as they don't need that to cost a job and enter invoices.

    Thank you for your engagement on this idea. To help explain a little on how this works in the Account Transactions(AT) report - what shows in the Description field when running the report is dependent on the type of account you're running the report for.

    For example, when running the AT report for a bank account, transactions will show the Contact name in the Description field. This is because the detail that is entered on each description line in the body of a transaction relates to the account the line item is coded to.

    To see the detail, you'll need to run the report for the account code, not the bank account. This is also how the report works for some other accounts such as the system sales tax account, Account Receivable, and Accounts Payable.

    If you're trying to find the account a bank transaction or system account line has…

    Description is there for a reason. Why would Xero post a Contact as a Description?

    These types of decisions on reports like this definitely question the ability for the designer to grasp what is required here.

    When did description mean Contact?
    Why input a Description if you are going to omit it in the critical reporting?
    Beyond belief.

    Contact = Contact
    Description = Description

    Find and Recode Descriptions.

    Client repetitively inputs the wrong description,asking the coding look incorrect. It would be awesome to be able to fix the description on these repetitive transactions.

    Seems we can change almost everything except that. Please add this to find and recode. Thanks
