Permissions: Payroll - Payroll admin limited access
Ability to give payroll admins only permission to staff.
Purpose: To make the staff have fully access to Payroll but not other parts of Xero.

Provide admin staff access to timesheets and leave but not to view all sensitive employee financial information. At present we either provide admin with payroll access and they can see employee remuneration which is not ideal, or we can use our admin staff to do admin work (NOT IDEAL).

Having the ability to allow some employees payroll admin access but only for certain employee groups is a must. For example, we payroll both our internal staff and our casual staff. We need one of our internal staff to be able to process payruns for our casual staff but to do so they would then have access to our internal staff's data.
This is not what is needed. A function that allows certain staff payroll admin access to certain employee groups is a must

It would be really helpful if there could be more separation in user permissions.
We have an Admin Team that has the authority to approve leave in our office but does not have the authority to complete other payroll activities - pay runs, view/change pay templates, etc.
Currently Xero does not allow for this separation in permissions so we cannot have this setup correctly in our office -

yes, please, we would like to have option that someone could do all the timesheets, leave approval without the access to staff's salary info.

Update, yes please do this urgently. As Lynda below pointed out, it is causing employees stress and concern as they see a list of approvers, don't remember who to select so send it to everyone.

Yes please - this is so annoying

Yes, please do this. My accountant and bookkeeper (Payroll Admins) are getting plagued by timesheet approval requests from staff inadvertently selecting the wrong approver.
Time spent trying to re-educate all the staff that make the mistake is starting to add up in cost and frustration. -

Split the Payroll Admin role so you can have staff run payroll and reports - but do not have access to make changes to Salaries etc
Or have it that all changes to key items like Salary has dual approval or alerts sent out to the main user so they can see if any changes have been made without permission

It would be great if there were different levels of payroll admin access. i would like certain managers of the business to see leave requests from all staff, not just ones sent directly to them, but i don't want them to be able to access the payroll information. AKA wages and banking details. More flexibility with the levels of access is very important to me.

This needs to be addressed urgently. Employees freak out when they see different options for approvers. (e.g. off-site accountants and advisors)

I would love to give a staff member Invoice Only access for business, and Payroll Admin access. They have taken over payroll processing from me, but also work in sales, so need to be able to raise Sales Invoices. However I don't need/want them to be able to view bank account balances & details or bank rec etc.

I REALLY don't need to be sent copies of all the timesheets for approval for all my clients, particularly since I can't attest to the employee's timeliness since I'm not there, I'm an offsite advisor.

AU Payroll - User access options
Payroll user access for advisors that can be customised so that you can opt out of being an option for approving leave or timesheets etc. -

Access to managing leave only would be great - Certain levels of manager need to manage people but not necessarily seeing financial data for the whole company.
Currently they appear to only be able to accept or decline leave not amend leave or see the whole picture/pattern of leave.

Once payroll is set up it would be good to make only advisors accessible to payroll admin. The payroll clerk does not necessarily understand the postings behind payroll so it causes issues that they have access to payroll settings and are setting up codes that should not be set up and causing more admin to tidy up and move transactions to the correct place.
There should be an option to select if a user can run payroll and whether to be able to access settings not you either have access to everything or nothing!

The long list of names that can approve a timesheet in the app will only confuse our staff, many of the users listed work for our accountant and the names are completely unfamiliar to our staff, in fact, they will think something has gone wrong. You should be able to give time sheet and leave approval in the app to specific users.

Payroll Admin currently does not have an option to remove the access for changing employee bank details. We require multiple staff to be able to access payroll & run pay runs for our clients however they should not all have access to change employees bank details for added security & fraud prevention. We were alerted to this when increasing security across our company due to a security breach and this is essential to protect clients and staff. Thank you.

Very important for "payroll managers" to be able to access Xero payroll - but business owners will not necessarily want them to be able to access other functions and information in Xero.

I agree, not every employer wants their employee admin person to see their working bank account and all other financial matters in their xero file.
It is critical that this function be a standalone function. -

Please create the option for employees to be allowed to submit draft timesheets on behalf of another, without granting them access to the full functionality of Payroll Admin. If employees can approve another's timesheet, surely there should be an option to submit a draft one on behalf of another as well?
Junior Payroll Admin should be able to submit timesheets for approval without access to the pay rates/employee details of everyone on file. If the payroll supervisor can then approve timesheets without Admin access, then why not the position below?
