User role permissions - Control and restrict access to chart of accounts
We use Xero for our Bookkeeping business & would like to invite clients to view only the information pertaining to their individual business records. Right now, anyone who logs in can see every other client’s information, as well as their own.
Hi team, rounding back to this idea here it appears there are a few different use cases being raised around permissions.
From the sounds some would like to restrict access to for users to specific contact records, and we have an idea for this here that I'd recommend joining.
For those that would like to restrict access to specific reports we have another idea around this we'd recommend joining.
I'll adapt the title of this idea for those that'd like to restrict access to specific chart of accounts.
We appreciate interest in each and you're welcome to join each idea you'd like to see development for, and we'll share any updates on each idea respectively.

Completely agree, I have a few accounts that need to be expensed, and having all my staff seeing all accounts is complicated and messy. Want to keep it simple for my employees

Really agree with this. We're looking at introducing the Expenses app as it's now included with our subscription and solves a need for those employees that are out a lot an end.
We hoped to be able to make the accounts list straightforward by choosing a couple of obvious codes and then a miscellaneous code that could then be reassigned by finance to ensure consistent treatment. But if we need to select all the possible codes in the Expenses module then we'll end up with a very long list that becomes unwieldy for the employees, especially if we want company card expenses recorded this way.

Need to ability to limit the list of accounts for each user and then allow the approver to have access to all chart of accounts to re-assign the expense.
Staff don't understand accounts requirements to be able to choose the correct account.
Also need to make it simple for users. -

We are actually looking at other software providers. This security feature is critical for us - whilst you can restrict running reports people in my organisation get visibility to confidential information.

This is imperative so that different department managers can manage their own budgets but not see whole company information. Restricting by both Account Line and also by Indirect Cost would be helpful

It would be great to have a more granular way to restrict user access. We'd like to be able to lock certain accounts from users as they contain confidential information.

Can we have it so a user can only view one account? The permissions currently are not granular enough
