Projects: Update inventory when a tracked inventory item is added as an expense
Update inventory when it is posted as an expense to a project as this makes more sense as clients use the project reports to calculate WIP and it is annoying to have to constantly check which inventory figures have been applied and deduct this from the inventory. It also means when projects are billed this actually reduced the stock figure as this only happens when you invoice the project for the tasks and expenses whereas currently invoicing using the project amount does not update the inventory.

This would also be a great feature. We assign inventory items as expenses to projects, but invoice our customers on a different schedule. We still need to know what inventory items are used in the project, but don't want to physically invoice these items to the customer. It would be great if you could use the 'mark as invoiced' option to update the inventory figures. ie 1 x inventory item is assigned as an expense in projects, if you mark it as invoiced, the inventory level is reduced by 1 x item.

Absolutely agree that invoicing the project amount (or even a progress payment up to a specified date) needs to push any tracked inventory through to Xero & update stock levels. We hold consignment stock & need to report monthly on usage, which requires manual intervention & additional work.

Projects - Invoicing and Inventory (Manufacturing)
The tracking inventory really needs an upgrade. At the moment the only way to reduce the amount of inventory is by creating an expenses invoices. However, our customers do not want an invoice with a heap of lines and 10 pages long. We do everything in projects and add our inventory there. Why does this not automatically reduce our inventory count ??? And then if the item is removed from the project because it wasn't used then this would increase our inventory count back again.
At the moment projects invoicing options could be improved if the inventory tracking was also improved. It would be good to be able to invoice the product that has been made. We make large robotic tractors and a project will have many man hours and items.
Another option or additional idea to add would be the same as suggested above which MYOB has...The ability to 'build' a new item using other items. This idea could also translate into 'Inventory Sub-items'.
It would also be good if we had more viewing options. For example, only tracked items or if you have advanced tracking if you could view a single department/warehouse.
Another idea would be to translate new costs of items. When we receive a bill and enter the items the prices change so we override the stock items price but this doesn't translate to the inventory item itself. Hence price changes are inefficiently updated.
