eInvoicing: Support for repeating eInvoices
Ability to select e-invoicing for a repeating invoice

The option to send repeating invoices via einvoice is highly important for us as a business. Majority of our invoices are repeating invoices for local government authorities who are now switching to einvoicing. We are now double handling invoices by having them go through to the approved stage, and then manually having to send the invoice. It is also creating more of a workload to have to consistently check which approved invoices should be sent as einvoices rather than it automatically happening.

This is the last step needed, which is critical as my invoices are mostly repeating invoices. Currently they have to stop at the approve stage and then get manually sent. This negates the benefit of a repeating invoice. Or, they have to go via email, which negates the security benefit of einvoicing

This will probably never happen because it's an obvious oversight and fixing it will acknowledge the oversight. Because Xero never admits to making a mistake. Ever. If they do ever get around to posting a comment here it will be some useless gaslighting response that dances around the problem without offering a solution. I would love to be proved wrong but that remains to be seen.

Will make the difference to whether I will be able to send a significant portion by e-invoice. Most of my invoices are repeating.

Agree - need asap as its extremely painful to have to 'double handle' an invoice just to send it.

Agree the majority of our invoices are recurring and would like these to be eInvoices. Not supporting this is holding back on the use of einvoices

Any updates on this seeming trivial feature request that's been on the product ideas for more then 2 years?

Does anyone know when this feature will be available? It's becoming more and more in-demand and it looks like this has been an issue for years.

It is essential to be able to set up and send recurring invoices as e-invoices. This will save a huge amount of time, especially considering that Xero is going to retain the ability to send invoices through Xero-to-Xero connection. I am surprised that it is not available yet.

Xero, e-invoicing is the future NOW!
Can you please prioritise e-invoicing - it is such a breeze when setup. No more emails, attaching files or copying last month's bills and editing them. Gone gone gone!
E-invoicing is here, and can you please get the repeating bill side sorted for us asap, so we don't have to add a manual process to send our regular repeating invoices to clients that we have setup on e-invoicing.See attached update from the government, that govt agencies will be expected to utilise e-invoicing, target for small businesses to be paid in 5 working days, not 20th following month.
Thankyou

Hey Xero - can we ask for a big push on the ability to send recurring invoices via e-invoicing. With all the development work and fine-tuning in other areas that Xero is doing, I feel e-invoicing recurring invoices is a much bigger priority. MBIE 22/2/2024 released a statement to say that they will ramp up this requirement for government agencies to prioritise einvoices for faster payment.
to businesses - new target of 5 working days to become the norm. We are working to move clients onto e-invoicing which is a dream - reduced emails, accuracy and efficiency - no more time wasted loading and coding of bills. However a big holdup with recurring service invoices. . can you get this moving!? tvm -

EInvoicing in Xero has finally reached the functionality where we can use it (ie attachments coming through properly etc). But it is still missing from repeating invoices which make up a big part of our billing. With the increasing push by government towards eInvoicing this is really essential.

Obviously this needs to be attended to - it'd part of the whole automation process/solution - why would you try automate via e-invoicing at the cost of losing repeat invoices

90% of our invoices are monthly repeating invoices. This is important for us to be able to send invoices securely to our clients.

Around a year ago I was in a webinar run by various government agencies, including the ATO, on improving cyber security for businesses. One recommendation was to use e-invoicing with Peppol. To be more secure than sending PDF via email. I have been encouraging clients to implement e-invoicing. I now find that it isn't available for repeating invoices. 99% of my monthly invoices are repeating invoices. It is time this is implemented.

Having a lot of clients to invoice at month end means the repeating function is vital to ensure all customers receive their invoices. Without the repeating ability we run a strong risk of missing some as there is no "check" feature to ensure all have been captured.

Customer moving to Peppol and requires einvoicing. I cannot do this with the current repeating template I have. Seriously !! The New Invoicing template can not be used for a repeating invoice. Why??

We have a large number of repeating invoices. It is crazy that this feature is not available and is the reason we are yet to progress with an e-invoicing.

How is this a feature that was overlooked in the first place. should have been added along with adding eInvoicing to standard invoices

I have clients of a customer of mine asking them to send e-invoices.
The manual workaround is not workable and would waste administration time. This frankly undermines the point of the e-invoicing network (which is essentially to save time). Not being able to send e-invoices to a large government department via repeating invoices in Xero is frankly ridiculous. It feels like a half complete feature.
